Show Off Your Kle

The brand Jerry made famous. I'll start the show with my latest find.

Seller figured I bought this crimson Klein Stage to match my tomato soup can Mini Cooper S. The bike was listed on eBay and NJ craigslist. Got a better deal via eBay, I was the sole bidder. Photo taken as picked up. All RSX, the stock group, but for a 105 triple crank. Aluminum components need clean and polish.

Standard bb shell is nice too. I agree about a better group. I have several 105 sets stashed and probably one tricolor group. Just need to add STIs. Microshift?

Heres my 1997 Klein Stage Comp. Nothing is Original, It should have 105SC but now its got 7700 Dura Ace and a Campy C-Record Crank. I'm mostly pleased with it i just need to get that threadless stem off of it and get a nice quill stem on.

I really don't think of my Klein as vintage - I bought it as 4-year old never been built bare frame and put on all DA-9 components which is how the full bike version came.
It's now got a compact crank and DA10-spd and new wheels and a few other parts... it seems more like a modern classic than vintage... but 18-years old isn't modern anymore I guess.

Thanks, they were a unique design back in the late 90's to early 00's. there were Aluminum Mantra's and some Carbon Fiber ones. this one is a Carbon Fiber model with Shimano XTR 9 speed, It is in queue to get restored but im glad to have one. although the MTB guys hated them. especially compared to the technology of today's MTB.

heres a couple more of the Mantra Pro.

I searched for this thread a week ago and couldn't find it. Just built this one up. A 1993 Klein Quantum II with 9 speed Ultegra and Mavic Aksum wheel set. Weighed in at 19.5lbs. Felt way lighter than that. And I even like the color.

Nice Quantum II , I think its a bit newer than 1993 though. As far as i can tell the Klein Logo on your Quantum II looks to be the 1994 and later one. my guess would be maybe a 1995 model.

Looking at the catalogs, I believe it to be a 1994 you're right. . I got this one and an identical Quantum II from the original owner that bought them directly from Gary Klein.
Guy was a local racer, I looked him up from some old race records, so his story was believable. Bikes also came with owners mnuals that have 1993 written all over them, so I just assumed.

Understandable, I went through the Logo's with the Pinnacle i showed above and its year,

Alot of times the Manuals were kind of generic and were used for multiple years.

I guessed 1995 because that color looked to be the Sovereign Blue color that was an option for the Quantum II and with the Yellow Klein logos and such.

I'm a long time fan of Kleins. After dreaming of owning one as a teenager,
I finally got my opportunity to become a Klein owner in high school when
I built my 1989 Klein Quantum from the frame up. It is still my favorite bike of all time.

Quantum-20170114.jpg

Years later, I decided to expand my bike collection with a mtn bike and
I found this 1997 Pulse Pro on eBay. She has been a very reliable bike over
the years, even though it isn't a pre-Trek Klein.

downsize (9).jpg

The latest acquisition came to me thank to FLESLIDER. This beauty is a
1990 Pinnacle Elite with the very popular "Backfire" paint job. She is currently
undergoing a complete strip down, clean/repair/replace, and rebuild.
I'm very excited to ride this beauty someday soon!

Adding the '74/'75 I found 2+ years ago...

As found:

After a clean & wax:

As it sits:

(I've since reattached the two rearmost tt cable guides. They were loose from the tt when I purchased the bike -- thankfully they were strung along the brake cable housing and otherwise in tact! I couple dabs of epoxy set things straight.)

Now it waits for me to build:

My ‘92 Performance, when it was new and I was much more limber:

And in a lovely moment of repose, during our 2001 3-week tour in Italy. The Time CF fork was slightly less harsh than the original aluminum one, and tires are hugely improved these days.

My adult son has it now and still gets lots of compliments on that beautiful Chehalis paint job.

I'm finally feeling settled enough after a recent move to get back to a few projects that have been sitting for too long. The Klein was up today with cables roughed in and some other odds 'n ends.

The rear derailleur hanger came to me a bit bent unfortunately... The rear wheel pictured came on the bike spaced at 126, I only did a rough re-space/re-dish to 120, so should be fine moving a washer or two around. I should have some correct skewers for these as well. They're 28h f/r, so far from everyday wheels. I've still got to build the 36h Arc en Ciel / Weyless I posted above. I'm hoping that we're good enough there as-is with the 5sp freewheel -- that everything clears just fine in top gear and that shifting is good. Fingers crossed... Worst case, I should have some record hubs that'll give a bit of extra adjustment in locating the freewheel between the dropouts. I'd like to find some more appropriate jockey wheels as well.
