Sent the following to the owner:
Would you be interested in shipping it to Baltimore, without
the wheels, carrier, kickstand or pedals?
Shipping would be around $50 for the frameset.

The listing says 69cm, and it looks bigger than that to me. Crazy low price (so far) for such a nice frame.

I just read the listing as well. This had to be a custom for a guy who either had a short torso & arms -- or had no flexibilty and needed those bars up high. 69cmX59.7? And with 40.0cm chainstays?

I'm no frame designer and certainly respect the Serotta reputation, but I'm guessing the buyer had 'special needs'.

For 5$ you can't miss on this one. I wish this was closer because I need a fork wit a long steerer tube.

I think these were Tange 900.

Some Japanese firms refer to them (for US markets) as 28 inch bikes (not wheels)
Last year I got one through the 'Forums, so I know they exist.
Check out my signature under [Univega].
You be asked to go see the details of my 70cm Panasonic.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

Here's one right in your own backyard. Not a frame, but cheap enough anyway.

It is a pretty bike and every bit as tall as I would like.
New Haven is a bit out of my range; I live in Baltimore.
I generally prefer to build-up bikes using my own hardware.
Thanks for the look.

Bridgestone Spicas in the early '80s (along with another lower model), did the 27"/68.5cm frame deal. They were replaced by the 400 and 300 in the mid-'80s, of which I have an '85 400. Picked up the frame in good shape for $75. With a full suite of 7400 and 7800 Dura Ace all around, plus a Brooks saddle, it's in the $650 range ready-to-ride (and what a ride!). 400s came with double-butted 4130 tubing in all sizes except for the 27" size, which makes sense. For a tall bike, these had great proportions. My 27" 1983 Nishiki Olympic 12 did as well, albeit with a slightly longer chainstay length.

Saw athe picture; pretty bike. The most valuable part of this bike is the Brooks saddle, which could be worth $100. The Rapid-fire brake levers are nice. The frame is smallish; Bontrager tires are worth $20 apiece. Nothing else there.

Is this large enough? Might only be a 68, I’ve never looked to long at the big ones, being just shy of 5’10” myself.

Here's a bad photo of a custom Serotta Ti Super Touring that was built for one of our old customers who was generally acknowledged to be crazy. I went to high school with the guy and he only got worse once he discovered bicycles and gave up magic. He was my height and I rode 64cm bikes. I think this one was built as a 69cm frame to the buyer's specs, PAYMENT IN FULL IN ADVANCE and it was reportedly referred to in-house as "the clown bike." It was stolen along with a bunch of other stuff in his shed.
