Speaking of Maruishis...

My local "Dump your crap week" gave forth a very low mileage Maruishi "Grippa". Low-ish end stuff but the 200 GS drivetrain shows little to no wear. Dates to late 80's I suppose. The crankset is odd as they have a hard rubbery coating but a magnet reveals a steel core. Minimalist-cool looking as the coating covers the spindle holes at the rear. I think we've got a winner in the annual winter beater contest...studded tires await.

Hey, speaking of Maruishis...

I'm just in the process of redoing an MT-5. Not sure about yours but it's a nice light frame of good steel.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get the crank on.

Generally I think most Maruishis are good to better quality, road or mountain. Yours looks quite nice.

Finally done that. Still have to try my hand at making my own fenders and rack but the bones are there.
