Done for 2015?

So I finally eked out the last 31 miles to reach my goal for the season. While cleaning off the bike, I noticed that the rear tire is pretty much gone. Think I'm done.

Put a new tire on, and get some more miles for the year.

As @Homebrew01 stated put on a new tire and keep riding. We have plenty of good riding weather left.

I'm done commuting. Without DLST, riding during a dark rush hour gives me the heebees.

Weekends I'm still good.

You need more than 1 bike.

Yeah, the tire in question is on the Battaglin. The Ciocc has been out of commission since late July - needs the "works".

I'm sure I have some rotten carcass I can put on there to get a few more rides in. I'm more amazed that the tire didn't fail. I ran over a couple of rocks and the roads are full of debris this time of year.

It's only November...

This is no time to economize on a tire!

Get some fresh rubber on there and take advantage of every rideable day that remains before winter Armageddon sets in.

The shops needs the business.
I just put 27" Gatorskins on the Raleigh Super Course I bought yesterday, and will be heading out into damp, well-lit darkness as soon as I can take the turkey out of the oven. The Gatorskins measure 27.5mm wide on 24mm-wide Nisi-Evian rims, and should be good for 3k miles.

1700 miles (between March and today)

i'm tempted to stack on another 100, but won't be able to get out again until "Black Friday". I'm in Chicago, so we're on borrowed time with the weather. One it snows, I'm done, done.

And I'm just getting started. Great riding weather until sometime in March or April, when it becomes night time only once again.

Have added 300+ miles since ending commute 2 weeks ago, but that is b/c of some really long all dayers on nice weather + daily lunch mtb trail spinning. Actually taking another day off tomorrow for an all dayer with 50s and sunny (most unusual around here) b/c well worth it vs inevitable roller riding. One of the nicer Novembers I can remember up here and taking advantage.

Last couple of weeks I have been on the trainer in the basement. We had some fluke warm weather this weekend and I was like a man getting out of prison. So nice to ride in with the sun on you face and riding on real hills.

Year round riding here in Houston and the weather is just now getting cool to the point where I can lose the sweat gutter and 3rd bottle. I can't imagine hanging up the bike for the next 5 months and having to get the legs in shape all over again.

It has been a warm November so far here North of Canada, with 60-75 degree daytime temps. In fact last night at 8:00PM, I needed to make a Trader Joe's run, only about 1.5 miles each way. While it was dark, medium fleece zip up was all that was needed. It was just under 40, a little nippy without gloves.

Nice to live in a safe evening riding area where the streets are wide, well lit, and light traffic. I've been pedaling the 5 mile RT to the fitness center too at night.

I thought I could give my wallet a rest too, but picked up a 50th anniversary Paramount and a Teledyne Titan during the first week of the month.

Since I got my first pair of slick tires on my Jamis, I have been wondering how to tell when they were done. It is 4 years old and has around 3k miles, so I bought some new tires, but when I measured the tread thickness on new vs. old, they are the same. I guess I can put the old ones back on and go another year. Hopefully, I'll catch them before they get as bad as yours.

it looks like a fixed gear tire from skidding! I would have tossed it long before it got there, that tire is a liability! Get a new tire on there and keep going.

Funny to hear some of you guys talking like this, when I feel like a bear emerging from hibernation. Are we even on the same hemisphere? It's been a hot, miserable summer here in San Diego County, and yesterday was the first time I was able to throw my jersey & shorts straight into the hamper after a lively 70-miler. The last 4 months, I've had to strip off sweat-saturated kit outside and let them drip-dry overnight, so my condo doesn't smell like a YMCA locker room.

Must have been all those bleach burnouts I was doing.

I check before every ride and it was fine. The tire is a Michelin Pro4. They're pretty soft and when they go, it happens pretty quick.

The big ski resorts open in a couple weeks (a couple have already opened in the Sierras) and then I'm done except for the rare blue sky days during winter. I haven't ridden in rain in at least 3 or 4 years because of our drought but that is comng to an end it seems! Go El Nino!
