Need help to identify my Colnago
Hi everyone.
I'm new to this forum but can see from reading older posts that there are lots of people on this site with knowledge of vintage Colnago frames.
Basically I would like some help to identify a Colnago I have just bought and had refurbished. I believe this this is a late Mexico but would appreciate any views you may have. I've attached some photos, both pre and post re-spray; I know the new decals are not 100% accurate.
A couple of things to note which are probably of relevance:
None of the tubes are fluted
There are cable guides brazen to the underside of the BB
The fork crown is sloping, not square, and has the Colnago club logo
The outside of the fork has a recessed triangle shape cut into the fork shoulders
The chain stays are stamped Colnago. Only the drive side is chromed
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Interesting project. I'm not a Colnago expert or authority on the subject though am an owner of a Colnago. I'm guessing early to mid 80's Mexico. If so, decked out in Super Record components would look fantastic.
Are you doing the build? Let us know more about it. There are many of us Colnago lovers here.

Is there any crimping on the chain stays at all? Supers had it, Mexico's did not. At least the earlier ones were that way.

I'm going to 'stick my neck out' and suggest that you've got a 1984 Super frame.

Yes, looks like a Super, early-mid-80s. I have one just like it, with rust in all of the same places.
Like the French, the Italians were never good at paint.

thanks everyone for you replies.
I've been doing some digging myself and had previously ruled out a Super mainly because the fork crown doesn't have the word Colnago (added around '76) but also (and mainly) that the frame only has round tubes and no fluted tubes anywhere. I have also rules out a Mexico Nuovo for the same reason. So I'm thinking possibly a '78 or '79 Mexico.
Didn't realise how difficult this was going to be!

Your frame is definitely post 1980. The block on the rear brake bridge, and the engraved seat stay caps rule out anything earlier.
