Help me find a versatile bike rack!

As you can see I am having some serious issues with our current bike rack bending the fender support on my Raleigh Twenty! This bike rack works great for our hybrid bikes, but not so great for anything with a fender.

We have:

2 Raleigh Twenties
1 Raleigh Sports - ladies
1 DL-1 Tourist - ladies
1 large Specialized (forget the name, Expedition?) - men's
1 Schwinn Hybrid - ladies
and...formerly a stolen men's mountain bike that might get replaced.

The Rav-4 has a 2" hitch receptacle, but has that tire on the back and the door swings open sideways. I am not strong enough to hoist my bikes on the roof, and not interested in a rack where my husband would have to do that for me....

Does anyone have experience with a rack that can carry these different bikes? I really don't need to carry more than 2 at a time these days as the kids are grown and away most of the time.

Excellent topic for the vintage type bikes. I have this un-known carrier that universally fits roof type cross bars, such as Thule. Front wheel is removed and the fork anchored by axle skewer. The rear fits multiple width, of which you pre-set and then the green lever is clamps to final close. A safety pin automatically sets. To release, the pin is lifted and then release the lever.

Different than the rail type and frame clamps. Nothing touches the frame, works fine for a Raliegh Twenty, DL-1 3 speed's and when used with the extension, for our Santana tandem. This thing is heavy duty and not something as a quick on/off rack set-up mount. Would like to find a twin to this one.

We did have a Thule roof rack, but the Pontiac Vibe ended up with my son. That car was just short enough that I could put stuff on top by myself, but I really can't do that anymore. Got to take care of the deteriorating spine!

Ideally I would want something that can stay on the hitch, as the current soft-ride rack can. So many racks don't accommodate ladies bikes (step thru) or bikes with fenders.

Just bumping this. But seriously, doesn't anyone cart their vintage ladies fender bikes anywhere but me?
