Puch Pacifica Thoughts
 

What are your thoughts on a Puch Pacifica? There is someone selling one in my local area for $50. Pretty decent shape, but I imagine the tubes/tires need to be changed from the pictures. Has some rust on the components but frame looks okay. They sent me some pictures of it and it is one that was made in Japan. No idea of the year, but the tubing says hi-tens. Is this something worth looking into getting to clean up?

...if you like the bike and it fits, $50 isn't much if it doesn't need a lot of work, but then I'm not a big fan of hi-ten bikes. Photos would help to evaluate your bike.

I sold and wrenched on a bunch of these back in the day. Nice enough little bike and if not damaged is certainly worth fifty bucks. I recall two issues with the ones I worked on; the rear wheel seemed weak and likely to go out of true easily, and when tightening the rear axle nuts the axle would "walk" from the intended position. I had to align the rear dropouts on nearly every one of these, they required more correction than most other brands/models.

Thanks for the insight! I think I will pass on this bike and check out yard sales this weekend to see if I can find a better project to work on :).
