'82 Trek 730/736 Seat Tube Decal

I haven't found any replacement/transfer decals for this bike, and I will need them sooner or later. I will be restoring mine. (Horrid paint and missing decal)

Velocals does not have them and I couldn't find them anywhere else.. Tips?

What is it about this decal, that Velocals doesn't have it? I thought Treks of that period all had similar decals. That is, the seat tube decal is a large colored panel (same color as the head tube; you paint the head tube, and seat tube panel is the same color, but it's a sticker)(go figure!).

I believe some of the 82s had head tubes that matched the seat tube wrap and some did not.

Possibilities that come to mind:Rudi mentioned Velocals. I expect they would have them as well.

@Moderator - this question seems to come up frequently. Perhaps it deserves a sticky thread or a place in a sticky FAQ?

Did you contact JR at VeloCals? He did custom orders for my Nishiki and my Serotta. Just send him pics of the current decals with a ruler in there for scale.

I have a 1984 760 and cannot find decals for it either. They are different than the others.

The 1984 Trek decals have "Trek" and the model number on the downtube. The seat tube has that nifty "Waterloo" decal and the "Trek" in boxes. Some of the bikes have the Trek in boxes on the front of the fork legs.

It looks like your bike was purple and the black is painted over it, correct?

Yup. The few decals that exist were masked off before the rattle can. I haven't done anything to the frame yet since my first priority on this project was finding an original fork (done and straightened). Other projects have taken priority at this point but I would like to find a source of decals in case the original paint is too far gone.

I contacted him, and he referred me to his universal seat tube decal. Which is great since you can change the colors to match your model.

Thanks!

I think this bike would be missing something without the seat tube and down tube decals (the panels are painted on a Trek 9xx series).

Oh, sure, but that's with 20/20 hindsight. My 760 wasn't vintage back then.

IMO the Gran Criterium font looks like something that would be on a peanut butter jar.
