Intrepid Seattlites
+10 commuting points to anyone who rode to work in Seattle today.
It wasn't so much the rain as the wind! Dodging falling branches along BG trail was not my idea of a good time! Standing on the pedals to maintain 18 mph *downhill* -- I might take the bus home tonight ;) Stay safe! |

I salute you, sir. |
My commute of 5 miles was BRUTAL! I came in via fairview and eastlake up to UW campus and the lake was raging. It was hard to sleep with all the wind and rain.

As soon as I started to come down the hill from home and saw the lake, I almost turned around and went home. I came 10 miles from LFP to UW. Do you work at the UW?

^ you guys are crazed.
i rode sunday, and it was beautiful out. looking forward to march. |
I earned my 10 points. Head into wind the entire way. When I got to work I was shocked to see 2 bikes already parked! On the positive side- far warmer today than yesterday.

I'm dealing with a certain Seattlite on a bike deal.
He asked me to switch wheels, asked for a different crankset, etc on a used bike. I should have blocked him then, but sold him the bike. Now, he thinks 11 years of bike and components should be "new." He's quoted a couple of shops and I'm going to unload on them tomorrow, on principle. I doubt he rides in the rain or wind. If mommy doesn't cut the crust off his bread, he's just not emotionally ready to ride. |
I live 3 blocks from work and I still drive my Jeep.

Robbie, Sorry to hear about the trouble with that deal, and you are right to speak up about it. But it might be best to make use of the C&V transaction feedback thread and identify the individual & issue for everyone's benefit. I am afraid you may have unintentionally cast suspicion on others who have posted in this thread.

Craziness over here at the base of Stevens Pass, too. Planned a hike but had to turn back - even had a number of medium-sized branches come down on my car while motoring on Highway 2! I, however, was luckier than the motorist killed by a falling tree near Monroe on a backroad I did a lot of riding on this summer :(

I did bike home after work but took the most direct route, only 7 miles vs my normal 23. Was blown literally off the road by one particularly strong gust.

No, I live in downtown/queen anne but am a grad student at the university in the business school. Also, first fall/winter back in the PNW after 7 years in the SW. This readjusting thing is fun, but interesting. Where do all the non-raodie bike people hang out in Seattle? I miss my little bike gang in S. Utah.
I tried riding with the Point83 guys (Point83.com ~ Index) but they have harder livers than me. I have been riding CX last year and this, but no real connections there yet. Let me know if you ever want to get in a ride. |

Haha! RobbieTunes, sounds like you are friends with a couple "heavies" in Sea-town. Let us know if you need a local "contact" for your business dealings. ;) :roflmao2:

I'm working my way through "The Killing" on Netflix. Does it really rain every day there? |

http://time.com/4116070/seattle-gum-wall-regummed/ edit: Mt Baker is open for skiing, Crystal Mt too, after they repair the high wind damage. |
I listened to the NPR thing on the gum wall.
On the radio, it came across as disgusting. I imagine visually, and in context, different? |
Can I get 5 points for commuting that day in Portland? Only dodged small branches on my 12 mile ride home...:thumb:
