Dang, and I thought the Cow Palace had been deconstructed or something; years ago. I've been gone a long time.

It's still there; they host the Grand National Livestock Expo and PRCA Rodeo, gun shows, computer swaps, boat shows, RV shows and similar events.

I went by and talked to Rock Lobster guy. Here are a couple of pics from the event:
This is a 1937 Silver King. It was absolutely awesome!

That first photo is from Jim Langley's booth. Jim has a fine eye for vintage oddities!
Maybe 30 or 40 road bikes and frames at the Cow Palace that were pre-1990. Eisentraut, Frejus, Legnano, Faggin, Centurion/Cinelli Equipe, Ivor Johnson, Raleigh Pro, Raleigh Competition, Ed Litton, Motobecane LeChampion, Mondia, Colnago, Allegro, Merckx, Centurion Iron Man, Landshark, are the names I remember off the top of my head.
A smattering of vintage parts as well ranging from a new-in-the-box Suntour XC rear derrailer to Silca Pumps to the usual lineup of Nuovo Record items. Lots and lots of new 26" MTB tires that weren't selling.

Aside from starting one hour late this year, the SF bike swap meet at the Cow Palace was OK.
I was able to get good deals on two items. First a perfect looking, NOS set of gun metal colored anodized Galli brake levers, complete with hoods at just 15 bucks! Then a set of new Look/Keo clipless carbon pedals with the CF blade release "springs" at 80 bucks.
Could have topped of the day with a lightly used bench Park truing stand that was for sale at 40 bucks, but a guy right behind me that sounded like he never built or trued a wheel before (he had to ask the seller what it was for) snagged it after I foolishly hesitated buying it and put it back on the table! He got it for 30 bucks! I felt like a big fool missing out on the nice truing stand...
Lesson learned for me again..... In a swap meet you cannot hesitate on a good deal when you see it!
Maybe next year....
