Crappiness (aka) the bane of the postal service existence is scheduled to be picked up tomorrow and on it's way to @Sir_Name

Sir_Name 09-22-16 06:57 PM

Many craptacular thanks your way, YK.

YogaKat 09-23-16 02:48 PM

My pleasure.

Picked up and on the way.

Expected Delivery Day: Monday, September 26, 2016

Sir_Name 09-27-16 09:27 AM

The BoC arrived largely in tact yesterday, though the box is pretty beat and does have a tear along the top edge. It's a shame to replace this box with artwork for a new one, but it's gotta be done. I'll grab a new box today, snap some pics of the box and my crap-haul tonight, then get it back on its way to mountaindave tomorrow.

There are some interesting items in the box this go around...the, uh, apron was tempting.

So the BOC kills a box in 2 trips. Those boxes are pretty crappy!

smontanaro 09-27-16 10:40 AM

I rather suspect that while it protects the parts better, the sheet metal liner actually inflicts a cost on the box itself...

YogaKat 09-27-16 11:01 AM

I bought that mustache tape specifically for the BOC. Saw it at the store on sale and immediately thought "Yep, that's cool crap!"

I think you might be right, it's a snug fit in the cardboard before being loaded with craptents. Installing the metal liner before taping up the bottom of the box helps.

Might be time to purge a few bulkier items soon.

Nice touch, wish I had some when closing the BOC back up. Now I know...

Time to crash, pics and shipping and crap tomorrow.

It only occurred to me to pass on the mustache tape after looking at the box on this thread. Next time...

Sir_Name 09-28-16 09:46 AM

BOC is on its way to mountaindave.

Holy crap I wish I hadn't seen this. My life will now not be complete until I have a Venkman apron.

I was one of the Ghostbusters for Halloween when I was even more of a young'in. Time for history to repeat itself.

My wife has been looking for ideas for our 2 yr old daughter....

Narhay 09-28-16 10:27 AM

Oh good you took my LX rear hub. I repacked it with new grease and new grade 25 balls before I put it in. Cones and races were in good shape.

gugie 09-28-16 06:47 PM

Ah, a Portlandia sticker and button, warms the cockles.

Oh wow, thanks. Noticed it was smooth spinning, that explains it. Not crappy at all. :)

Get the gear!

Fahrenheit531 09-28-16 08:57 PM

Oh crap. I forgot to request a new spot on the list!!
If you would, kind sir, I'm sure there is some appropriate crap around here looking for a good home. :)

That chain whip is a 2-time BOC passenger. I claimed it from the BOC a couple years ago, then never used it. (I have a Park as well). The NEXT DAY after I shipped the BOC this time, a friend had me work on his PDG mountain bike, which had one of those AccuShift cassettes that are affixed by a threaded cog. Fortunately I didn't need to crack into the rear hub.

Sir_Name 09-29-16 11:30 AM

^I decided to grab it as a second whip since it looks like I'll be using a uniglide rear hub (w/ hyperglide cassette except smallest cog) on the winter project. The hub is 7400, so it seems no freehub body swappin' on it.

Its great fun to see items I put into the BOC, being adopted in new homes.

For me that's half the fun of the game. And I think it's also why people get so upset when the BOC goes missing. Like losing one's prodigal children.
