Picchio
3alarmer put me on to this wonderful machine. Angelo Picchio worked out of Torino. Some of the lugs look like bulls right? More information on this maker here:

That's a beautiful bike, no bull. Neat dimpling on the back of the fork blades, not sure I've seen that before.
|
So nice! What a beautiful machine. Tons of showmanship, yet truly elegant at the same time. The dimpling on the back of the fork is really cool and new to me as well. Thanks for sharing.
|
BEautiful! The stars in the head tube lug! Oh my ! - Love this bike! -- I'd have a hard time riding it except for special occasions i think
|
Very, very nice! Needs to be in this thread, too: http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...i-talians.html
Another vote for "never seen that fork treatment before". Interesting. DD |
I checked a thesaurus for an antonym for gaudy and didn't find a suitable word. This is tastefully simple in a way you don't often see on Italian bikes. I find it extremely tasteful.

CDM and Picchio special made me aware of the brand a long while back...they really are elegant and wonderful bikes. Yours is a good deal cleaner than mine (and mine lacks the star cut outs).

That's definitely odd. The dimples look like what Columbus put in their SP chainstays; I wonder if Picchio used chainstays for fork blades, and if so, why? Are the blades round or oval?

Beauty! The fork looks so delicate.

"Aero craze" era. Very nice!

Anyway a big WOW on that bike, and the photography as well. :thumb: |
Really nice, so elegant like others said. To me, some NR levers would be more consistent with the fine lines of the frame, but whatever, congrats on a beautiful find.
|
Beautiful bike, djkashuba.
|
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. But now you have a decision to make - does the Picchio go with you to Eroica California or the Bianchi Competizione?
|
@djkashuba that is lovely. Is that the original paint? You might want to compose yours with the one or two Picchios on the Classic Rendezvous website.
|
I had never heard of this builder before this thread, but that is some seriously gorgeous craftsmanship

I hope that more information on Picchio will eventually surface. -D |

simply stunning!

Pretty well stunned by now. These Picchio's really have some beautiful aristocratic air to them, so unlike more gaudy - guido - eyetalians.
|
Wow! Classic!
|
Dang! That would be the perfect bike for me! Beautiful but still restrained and not the usual over the top Italian "Peacock" bike.
I wish I would have a chance to own such a nice bike in the future..... I really love the unique fork! |

It seems original paint or if not the original paint was stripped clean. The Picchios I have seen on line are all over regarding color. I have not read anything regarding Angelo's paint preferences.
