Some things you just need once. Damn tool costs a buncha euros to buy. Someone nearby must have one of these damn things...Or you want to check fit of some 650b wheels with 42mm Hetres...I've already helped out a couple of locals...

Portlandia, I got TA and Stronglight crank pullers. I can rethread Frenchy crank arms to 9/16". My unfortunately named Park ***-1 tool accompanied by my Park FFS-2 and vintage Zeus "Campy" copy dropout alignment tool will get your frame ready for the jump from 126 to 130mm spacing.

Anything else is negotiable.

Anyone else? LA, SF, Seattle, NY, Boston, et al?

Nice idea for a thread. I have TA and Stronglight crank pullers, and Phil BB tools in MD/DC area.

I've got dropout tool, derailleur alignment, frame alignment tools, truing stand/dish tool and a nice assortment of others. I'm in the thumb of Michigan(no I'm not kidding...hold your hand up and located where your knuckle is. lol) I'm about an hour North/North East from Saginaw, Flint, Detroit.

Nice idea. I wonder if it would be better as a simple sticky thread which refers to threads on the regional forums? An added bonus would be a bit more visibility for those forums.

Third Hand Bicycle Cooperative on Fifth Street has 10 fully stocked workstations, a wheel building station, and a collection of more obscure tools.
Public access is Saturday 1-4; members also have MW 6 - 9 PM sessions.

Membership is free, but you are asked to attend an orientation session and volunteer 10 hours a year.

West Town Bikes on Division (near Western) in Chicago has open shop a couple nights a week. As does The Recyclery on Paulina near the Howard Street Red Line CTA station.

Tools are like books and vinyl records, you lend them out or borrow them and they all too easily never return home. No malice is intended but those things just like to play the field. So extra care advised.

Nevertheless, I'll mention a few items in the Boston metro-west area. Stronglight, TA, and "regular" crank puller, modern splined Shimano BB socket, various FW pullers, conventional headset wrench (32mm/36?mm), various hex wrenches including the uncommon 7mm. Several torque wrenches. Uncommon 16mm and 18mm open/closed-end spanners, useful for Campy hubs but not so much for the cars I've worked on. None of these items is especially expensive but when you need one and don't have it, you don't have what you need.
