Cinelli 1990s Handlebars - What's the difference between the models?

5 Attachment(s)
Hi all, looking to replace my Cinelli Diet Eubois as they're too wide (42) and I'd like more bar at the end of the drops.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=493401

The obvious replacement is the standard Eubois with a width of 40cm.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=493402http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=493403

I'm aware Cinelli makes/made an array of different models and wanted to know the difference between them before I make a decision.
For eg how does the Eubois compare to these? Shallower drops etc etc.
Ideally, I like the flattened part on the drop and would prefer a shallow drop so I can spend time there while cruising along.

Does anyone have specific 1990s Cinelli bar info as I'm interested in restoring this bike as the next project.
This and a longer stem will be the first step. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I never ventured into the Ninties tech. Handle bars are another area where personal preference can be very different from one rider to the next.

I do know that Cinelli went to the standard 26 stem clamp.

I though there was a recent thread about this, but I cannot find it. Someone even posted a couple pages from the Cinelli catalog.

I have a pair of 44cm ctc Eubios if you'd like me to measure something. They're waiting to go on my Olmo project.

One thing I've noticed is they are ~42cm ctc at the bends and 44cm ctc at the end of the drops. Also my clamp area measures 26.2mm even though they were advertised as 26.0mm. I'll have to gently spread the stem to go over the collared area without scratching the finish. Have read about others with this same problem.

There have been several threads but most of them, if not all, address the older bars with 26.4 sleave. The chart was from a web site I am too lazy to look up. There is a timeline for Cinelli but I don't think it goes into depth for the post 26.4 clamp products. That isn't to say someone might come up with the info! This is a very resource full set of hard core C&V folks!

It's hard to find nineties info. Google has 50's and 80's.
Comparison of Cinelli bars.

Road Bar Geometry.

Here's modern dimensions and product page.

Thanks for the offer much appreciated! I probably need some measurements of a pair of 40cm Dubois for comparison though. Interesting about the width. Mine are 42s and still on the bike under tape etc, and have been trying to work out how Cinelli measures the width. Mine are 40.5 ctc approx at the ramp area just before the hoods and 41.5 ctc at the drops. Not entirely accurate but I doubt if I'm out that much. Trying to do a comparison via ebay is a black art.

So Cinelli went from 26.4 to 26? I have to get a longer stem and make sure the diameter matches.

Thanks for the info - struggling to find anything on 90s Cinelli bars too.

There are a lot of "reported" examples of 26.0 Eubios clamp areas on the interwebs. Given mine measures a consistent 26.2 all the way around, I have a lingering suspicion that this could just be a bunch of misinformation. They were sold to me as 26.0 but none of my 26.0 stems will slide right on. Pretty aggravating.

Here is one review listing them as 26.0. If there really was a 26.0 offering, I'd guess there was probably a 26.4 as well.

Thanks, good info about a shallow drop and slightly convex shape - confirming your measurements! My Cinelli 1A (std style clamp) stem and Diet bars have always creaked on takeoff. Thought it was the stem in the head tube but maybe a mismatch of stem and bar diameter. Both are original, but my bar diameter at the clamp measure over 26 so maybe it's tight enough there.

The Eubois will probably suit as I've had this style on the bike for 20 years. Have yet to see a 38 on Ebay if they exist!
