Here is the back. The problem is the cable guides are to small to fit the housing through, so it is bare cable on the metal guides

I have a similar Talera and my frame came with a thinner-than cable housing piece of hollow stainless tube that has a shallow "S" curve and fits in that brazed-on guide on the seat tube, it's only about 3" long. The housing terminates on the forward end of the FORWARD guide in the bottomside of the top tube and the cable is in a plastic "inner liner" from that guide into REARWARD guide and then raw cable from there into this "S-tube"...You might also try stripping the plastic off a conventional housing and just use the bare metal coil, or maybe source a piece from a V-brake cable "noodle". Maybe I can snap a pic....later...it's a strange set-up but I don't recall it being any more friction-prone than normal when set up this way I describe.

The problem is probably the sharp bend of the cable exiting from the seat tube tunnel though it may be compounded by burring on the ends of the cut cable housing. This is very easy to do, especially with standard pliers and can greatly increase cable drag.

As mentioned by Unworthy1 (we really have to get him to give up the misnomer) a piece of cable housing stripped of the plastic casing may fit or a V-brake noodle. Alternately, you could cut a slit in the tunnel and pry it open slightly, so that it will accept cable housing. Another option would be to find an old GT crossover cable guide, though you may have to remove the tunnel to optimize the cable alignment between the brakes and the tunnel on the underside of the top tube.

I like the way these frames look but I can't ride them. My thighs rub against the seat stays. Either I ride with my legs unusually close together or they're unusually thick. I had a Shogun briefly, which I flipped.

you can almost make out the small "S" shaped piece in the pic above but it's blurry on my monitor^ this one is dark-colored. You can clearly tell the cable is bare in the run from the TT underside guide to that "S"-piece.

The weather this weekend was just beautiful. Yesterday I took the Tempest out for the first time in a while. What a great bike to play around on! It is so much fun, and such a gorgeous thing. After a little high of a jump, I found out first hand what a "burp" is in regards to tubeless tires. After pumping back up to the minimum stated 2.0 bar, it burped again. Maybe I have put on too much weight in my off-season!

However, I had so much fun yesterday that today the tempest got some metal polish, another ride and then a few pics.

I have an '89 Karakoram in splatter grey that I always thought had an aggressive look to it. Amazing how pedestrian it looks when setup like this. Make those changes, quick!

It's that super-long quill stem that kills it for me.

I am always on the look out for a good deal on a steel GT. I have dreams of copper plating one and letting it oxidize.

That's a great looking Timberline. The road conversion looks great to me. I think that will be my goal. A 26" steel frame with copper plating and road conversion.

GT Timberline find

I picked up this Timberline at a Goodwill yesterday. Not sure of the year, but I'm finding out it is in the 1999 era. Pretty great shape.

I have a 1990 20" Karakoram elite frames I so want to do the 700 conversion on. Have the wheels and everything, but it's fun to ride it 26" wheeled right now.

My Tequesta, dump rescue.
The dropouts are just horizontal enough to allow chain tensioning.
Fixed cog is drilled to bolt on the disc side of the hub.
Mini starfish crank
At this time it had Avocet 2" slicks
Black with gold overspray
Rusty steel bars, later I wrapped the grip area with black leather. Seat is a factory embroidered Giant
