Yeah, gorgeous & handmade titanium, sold to me by a good friend who was formerly a GT sales rep, and I hated to sell it. But I eventually learned that a triple triangle frame - at least every one I've owned or measured- puts my saddle too far back of the bottom bracket and it's harder for me to climb on it.

I had thought my GT would ride like an old Canondale I bought when the fat tube aluminum bikes first came out. Holy cow, what a stiff ride despite the steel fork. Now, my GT is much more refined, stiff it is, especially when the hammer goes down but just cruising along it actually rides pleasantly but taught. Tracks wonderfully compared to old steel noodle bikes. The triple triangle needs to make a resurrection.

Great looking bike. I love that brushed finish, especially on those welds. Makes me want to do a better pollish Job on my Tempest's welds.

Bought this recently for small change, a Pantera - aluminium with cromo fork - not too sure how I might build it up.

Not mine. This belongs to a friend of mine and is taking the place of his old Schwinn Moab that developed a huge crack across the bottom bracket shell. I'm swapping over his parts for him and fitting the Girvin fork was the first move.

There are no tandems in the 1990 catalogue. The 1991 shows a Quatrefoil (Deore DX) and Quatrefoil LE (Deore XT). I have nothing for 1992. An online 1993 catalogue lists a Quatrefoil (Altus) and Quatrefoil LX (Deore LX). Unfortunately, there are no pictures but the specs for the Quatrefoil LX list rear cantilevers, as opposed ot the U-brake. So, maybe it's a 1992 or maybe GT had 2nd thoughts about cantilevers for 1993? The serial number and component date codes may provide some clues.

Has unbranded (stickers fell off) 26'' 32h silver double wall rims with Tioga City Slicker tires. I think these are original, they still had the whiskers on them and were made in Japan. Rims lightly stamped inside 31 11 09k or maybe 31 11 usa.

Now I appreciate why you thought it was 1991. I'd also be tempted to reverse engineer that as a very early 1991 serial number. Still, the 1991 catalogue doesn't list an LX version of the Quatrefoil. I wonder if it was a poor seller and the factory relabeled some leftover 1991 frames as LX models? Or maybe they downgraded the DX to an LX version, after the catalogues were released? The component date codes may provide some clues.

Funny this thread suddenly comes up. Spent an hour last night building up the wheels and experimenting with Park Tools Spiffy Spoke Tension App, which really makes it easy to balance the spoke tension if you're willing to spend the time checking & recording the tensions. Dura Ace track hubs, Sugino 75 cranks, and the Specialized/Nitto version of the Scott Drop-In Bars. (We'll see what our velodrome officials have to say about the bars.)

And also recently grabbed this Shogun Ninja when the Ebay seller dropped it too low for me to resist. Am compiling Suntour Superbe Pro components to turn it into an Eroica Banzai-Assault vehicle. Was very pleased with the frame--much prettier and nicer quality than the photos let on. Them Japanese had something to prove in the 80's.

Sugino cranks one each 1GC & 2GC on the front and rear Also has GP on the back of the arms which I goes along with the lettering on the front of the arms.
Both saddles are GT Gel Lite dated 6/93
No date on either seat post or the stem.

My guess is the 9th frame built in January 1991. Sold in 1993 with whatever was around to build it.
Any thoughts on the 26'' wheels. I expected to find 700d when I went to see it.

Things are getting even more puzzling. The 1991 Quatrefoils were indeed spec'd with 700D, while 1993 were spec'd with 26". Component codes run a range from 1991 to 1993. I'm still leaning towards an old stock ('91) frame built up in 1993 but that would assume that GT changed the wheel specs shortly after the catalogue was released. Unfortunately, with GT now being owned by Dorel, I doubt you'd get an answer out of them.

Glad to see this thread bumped - I was wondering just yesterday if there was a Triple Triangle specific "support group" on this site. I'm not sure I expected to find it in C&V section though.

Here is my 1998 Palomar in Slate Blue. I also have two of the same bike in the Atomic Red - I keep one at the office for my work riding buddy, Tom, and one at home that I'll eventually use as my weekend neighborhood ride, when I feel like doing such. I have quickly become very enamored with the Triple Triangle design.

Nice bikes. I got my first gt as a parts bike. Closer look later changed things. Beautiful frame. Since then 2 more gt's have made it to the stable, with an avalanche making it to the daily ride. I would love to polish up #1 the way the 2 are pic'd here.
