MIELE MTBs from the original Jim Miele factory

It seems that a number of us have a vintage MIELE MTB that we love to ride. Let's share them here.

Here's one i got for around $20.00 then modified to a dropbar touring bike. I don't know which model this is but it rides very nicely.

Most of the stuff is Deerhead DEORE and i have a Deerhead DEORE front derailler to put on it. Those brake levers are Shimano TIASGRA that I got NOS for $10.00 Cdn at a small bicycle shop.

1989 Mile Aries 750. The Shimano Deore II is OEM. The Stag's head Deore XT is not.

Here's another MIELE MTB I had a while back that I painted and then converted to a dropbar touring bicycle.

I like the quill type adjustable stem because I can have it and the handle bar low and forward for riding on pavement or smooth surfaces and raise the stem andlebar up and back for a more upright position on rough roads or trails.

This bicycle saw a lot of winter use including a number of lightweight winter tours. I often just use a tent fly for shelter in winter since there are no mosquitos or blak flies to annoy me when I'm sleeping.

On this configuration the bar ends are inboard of the brake levers so I can have a more aerodynamic position in the wind or on paved roads.

The bike with racks and interrupter brake levers. I also tried a low rider front rack with that front rack but too many times after a snowfall the panniers on the lowrider rack would plough into the snow. So I took the lowrider rack off the front.

Campagnolo Mirage 9-Speed Ergo levers are great because there are no external cable runs to interfere with the handlebar bag.

Thanks for the model name and year = greatly appreciated. I like the Deerhead DEORE better which is why I got the Deerhead DEORE front derailler to put on it instead of the one shown.
