I have determined 64F is the perfect riding temp for me. I wear shorts and short sleeves. I'm not cold and I never get too hot.

Too bad it's 63F there. You are just going to have to bundled up, light a good fire and enjoy a hot toddy until it warms up to a reasonable temp. ;)

Don't do <50 so I like 63. Winter is rough for you op. :)

It was 63 degrees here in Ohio two days before Christmas. I rode in shorts and a long sleeve jersey. My ears are the first thing that feels the cold. I had to put a folded rag under my helmet straps as an improvised ear warmer to finish a ride once, when a sudden cold front moved in.

I went out today, 1 hour. It was mid 30's. This is close to my "no-go" temp.
I will probably go out in mid to high 20s, it depends on how bad the wind is.

Hardman picture of this winter!

63 degrees is ok by me. But ideal temp is probably 50-55 F. That range I can get by with just shorts and T-shirt and can stay warm and not get too sweaty just by riding hard. I'm a little overweight, so I get really drenched when I have to go up hills in 70+ weather.

Winter fun--- in who can outdo the other. :p Always a theme this time of year and if I were to look back I've probably started a winter thread or two or three.... :innocent:

Reflective selfie from my 2015 Christmas day ride. Low 50s F. I did wear wool shorts and jersey. :D

We finally had a bit of snow the next week. Low 30s F and I switched to pants and several upper layers for New Year's Eve.

Took the C&V Fat Tire Trek out last week. Made such a mess of things it took over an hour to clean afterwards. I've "fashioned" miss-matched fenders to help keep things more tidy for tomorrow's ride, which should be nice. :)

I'll post a picture of the funky fenders after Friday's ride.

I haven't been around the world. And of course we know cold /hot is relative. But to me the one common denominator is humidity. I was in another state and snow and ice and not cold. And another time in another state it was a 100 degrees and didn't even sweat. Here in cen tex is almost always humid. So in the winter it's like a wet blanket And even at 50 degrees and 6 mph winds it's cold. And summers same wet blanket ,you step outside and you start sweating immediately.
So I guess 63 degrees could be cold........ but I doubt it.

When it's really cold outside, we just switch to off-road and ride the trails in the bush. The trees shelter you from the wind and riding in the snow requires more effort. Even in temperatures well below freezing, I rarely use more more a single base layer of a thermal, wicking garmment like Lifa and a light, wind breaking outer layer.

My ideal riding temp is 85ish. Still comfortable at 95ish. Sitting around the house, I put on a long sleeve when it drops below 82. But I wasn't always like this. I once grooved on 40s and 50s too. No more. When riding in high temps, even with high humidity, I'm hard pressed to drink enough to stick to the "pee every hour" rule. Not at all, usually, over the course of 6 or 7 hours. The body adapts.

Dang. Wish it was that "cold" here.
