I finally put it up for sale on my local CL, so I wanted to immortalize it here if it goes out the door soon. I took the pics yesterday, which means I finally have pics in its definitive state!

On Wednesday I'll be taking it out for (maybe) its final ride. Going to hit the Snoqualmie Valley Trail with Wildwood - the weather is supposed to be in the upper-60s. I'll probably miss this one a lot, tho I've not done a ton of miles on it...but 7 bikes is enough.

A beauty indeed! Soon gone, but never to be forgotten.

p.s. Drillium Dude: I found the CL ad, but I don't see mention of the frame size. Obviously, you'll want to add that (and personally, I like to know the top tube size as well).

Geez, you're right - how'd I leave out something that important?

Now I need to get measurements. I've forgotten in my old age

Many thanks for the heads up!

i don't know if you can place a second craigs ad in montana as well, but i would think that would help.

you might consider adding key terms, "campy italian classic vintage american builder 58 58cm," etc.

I don't want to ship, otherwise I'd have offered it up here on the FSOT thread, too. I'm in no hurry to be rid of it, honestly, but if someone comes along with my asking price it will go with them

As far as the key terms: would they go in the body or the title? I've only used CL to sell two bikes (last summer), so I'm pretty inexperienced at it.

put key terms at the very bottom of the ad.

put the size in the title, body, and key.

someone in montana might drive over.

and i know you're willing to drive to seattle/edmonds/whidbey/etc., so you might mention it as a possibility.

I know you wouldn't do this, DD, but some sellers go crazy with their key words:

Wow DD, that bike is perfectly beautiful. Not a detail missed! Wishing you luck on your sale and best to the lucky person who claims it.

you can also put basic html in your craigs ad to change the font and make it a little easier to read.

where bf uses brackets, craigs uses greater-than/lesser-than symbols.

if you want to bold a word or phrase, use and around the selection.

for a bigger font, use .

for a line break, place
at the end of your paragraph (or whatever).

Cool - thanks. I updated the size but will have to do the rest tomorrow. I am trying to make changes on the tiny screen

Thank you

I hope it goes to a BF member - and I would've listed it here, but the last bike-shipping was a disaster and I learned my lesson!

Won by an Ebayer in Japan. Unknown by me, he used a middle-man shipping arrangement, so it appeared that the buyer was in CA, not JA. The middle-man represented the Japanese buyer by putting in the winning bid and providing a shipping addy in the US.

Bike was expertly packed by me. Arrived at CA middleman who unpacked, verified item, then repacked/paid for new shipping to JA. Arrived with dent on the top tube. Buyer waited until nearly 30 days had passed before informing me - then asked if I had another!

I lost the claim and got back a damaged bike with a few missing brake caliper hardware bits to boot. Took about a $100 bath when I finally sold it locally (at a garage sale!) about a year later.

Never, ever again.

Just got my first lowball offer from a guy in CA. Not only does my ad state I won't ship, I told him so in an earlier email answering his size question. Smh...

Maybe he wants to fly up and ride home.

That sure is a pretty bike!

Thanks! If he was thinking that, I guess he was hoping his one-way airfare would be taken care of by my agreeing to $725. Um, nope. I don't even know how one justifies that - I mean, there's nothing on this bike to really complain about.

Exactly. Maybe if I knew the person, but even so, I've also seen too many of those FedEx/UPS deliveries-gone-wrong videos. It would be a shame for this little bit of history to get wrecked. Only original once and all that...

Yeah, that's a well thought out build on a very cool bike and your photos are perfect. I guess he didn't mind insulting you and just hoped you were in dire need of selling.

Ha ha - I swear I recognized the name in the email but the where from escapes me. I don't think the lowballer is a C&V guy, tho.
