Identifying Vintage Mountain Bike?
Bought this bike, but someone threw a bunch of stickers on it and I don't know how to identify it.
Has Shimano Deore XT shifters on the front and a Shimano Deore DX rear mechanism. Also has a Shimano C-46 chainring.

upload the pics to flickr or somesuch, then link to them. sounds like its a nice bike from the components.
and you can remove stickers with a heat gun and acetone (to clean up gunk)

If you upload the pic to flickr or photobucket or such, use the code that begins & ends with

I plan on removing the stickers soon. I'm not sure how to identify it though, I guess someone took the original brand labeling off.

it may be very tough to ever know: check the bottom bracket for serial numbers. perhaps someone will be along that recognizes the color scheme. I am not an expert at all, and others may be along to correct me: but with my vague knowledge of mtb i'd say late 80s with a decent frame (not lugged like early 80s, not suspension forked like 90s)- which narrows it down as there were only so many mtb makers from that era. narrow but still 10+
first things: take off the kickstand and replace the chain. - unless that is gold color and not rust...

Never lay it down on the drive side, and even then, not on concrete or any other type of pavement. Pictures are too small and from too far away to make any kind of identification.,,,,BD

I have a repainted MTB with much more distinctive features, and still didn't identify it correctly until I sanded it down to repaint it.

I think the mid-fork braze ons and the lack of dropout and fork end eyelets is interesting.
