Extreme Drillium to the Max

One of these levers was supposedly bent in a crash:

Mafac Course 419 429 Drillum Drilled Brake Levers Gum Hoods for Parts | eBay

It probably didn't take much of a crash.

More like they pulled a little too hard on it.

I think we know that seller!

Chombi 05-10-16 01:53 PM

Definitely well below the recommended air/material ratio minimum.......

Very cool, nonetheless. Haven't got the patience to make them, but boy, are they cool!

I am sorry, but this looks like junk to me, not a classy approach (way OTT).

Nope. :)

Looks like they were made by Frank Spivey, BTW.

EDIT: more here.

Maybe they just rubbed a little too hard with the polishing cloth.

Idk, I have a lick of common sense so it's not like I would use something like that, but as a curiosity from another era when someone was tricking out a time trial bike, I think they are pretty cool.

Does look like Frank Spivey's work. Frank did some wild and beautiful work. I heard from a friend recently that Frank had died. I never owned much drillium myself but I do appreciate the hours, inspiration, and passion that Frank and others put into their bicycle jewelry.
