Who recognizes these?

Hey all,

Volunteering at the LBS here in town led me to find a bunch of stuff lost behind cabinets and draws. Some nice old stuff !

Behind the handle bar tape bin a number of these stickers were found. Owner had no use for them so I kept them out of the trash. I have not seen these particular ones on bikes and wondered if you all could shed some light. What company made them, when were they used and what sort of bikes they came on?

Thanks much, 3 Speed Slow

I had Sampson white padded tape on my PSV up to about 7 years ago. Very nice tape. Held up well to many cleanings. I'd certainly consider buying them again for my bikes if still available.

I've got Ciclolinea leather tape on my '84 PGN10 and, gotta say, durable stuff. Quality tape IMHO. I'd honestly never seen it prior. Here's what the tape looks like after 5 years of hard riding, no cleaning, and poorly installed ends at that. (I really loathe taping bars, and apologize for the **** quality here)

PS - if you got a pair, I could use a refresh on my end tape.

Never heard of Sampson tape, USA company ? Sorry, not one of the tape packs I pulled from the dark recesses.

Is this tape still being produced, do you know?

No, not that I'm aware of, which is why I've done my best to keep up with it. If you want a NOS pack, single-bid auction on eBay with it @ $12 shipped right now. Vintage Ciclolinea Pelten Italian Handlebar Tape 1980's Road Racing Bike | eBay

I've been eyeballing a few over the last two years or so dreaming about having nice pearly white tape again, but I've been avoiding because, frankly, the tape is still in great shape.

PS - about the Bike Ribbon tape. See: Original Bike Ribbon White NIP Ambrosio Handlebar Tape 1980s Vintage | eBay

Ambrosio Bike Ribbon appears to be the source. So that makes two on your list, both are 80s vintage, classic stuff. Excellent find!

I remember the Bike Ribbon one used as, well, bar tape finishing sticker back in the '90s.

I love the connection to Ambrosio as they are my favorite Italian rims.

Thanks for the info!

Some more tape has come out of the nooks and craneys. Sales sticker has 92 on it and sold for a whopping $ 7.49.

Wrapped one of the older bikes for sale in the store and it still looked fresh. It's the tape that looks like leather. It has the blue fade to all white motif. Will look good on my 89 Trek.

Owner still did not want it and saved these from the trash too.
