Eroica Limburg 2016
As Italy is too far for just a classic bike ride ( I did ride there in the Dolomites), I opted for the Eroica in Limburg a first this year.
Although outrageously expensive (mustn't grumble) for a 1 day ride, I inscribed
I had to adapt my early 90's Gazelle Champion Mondial a bit. It is 8 speed Campagnolo Titanium Record, with some monoplaner brakes.
Out went the brifters and the click pedals, they were replaced by Modolo brakehandles, downtube shifters and japanese pedals and toeclips.
The toeclips are Christophe as are the new toeclipstraps. (Christophe invented the toeclip, lived from 1885-1970, he won Milan-San Remo in 1910, and some stages in the Tour de France).
I'll cheat on the saddle ( my butt is used this type of saddle to the tune of 10.000 km/year).
Shifting 8 speed the old fashioned way is very easy, no need to overshift with the new teeth profiles.
then some pictures
I really like the elegant shoes I found on Marktplaats (Dutch Ebay without the ridiculous asking prices)

That's a fine looking bike, and those shoes look quiet handsome. Do you plan to switch back to brifters post-ride?
Enjoy the Eroica ride!! Post pictures if you can.

I go back to the same pedals( speedplay) which I have on all my bikes. I will leave the downtube shifters, there is not a lot of shifting where I live it is quite flat.
