anyone recognize this decal?
I'm thinking its a repaint label, but not sure.

Maybe it's just Photobucket being Photobucket, but it's so small I can't really see it, and clicking thru just takes me to an equally small version where the magnifying glass/zoom function doesn't work. Looks like a signature on the TT of a Pinarello Treviso?

Heres a link to the bike.

I don't recognize it. I'd be surprised to see a repaint label in that location, but you never know... Maybe a "team" decal or something?
|
Interesting. I thought that braze-on looked like something you'd see on a team bike. Looks like the one from the SVB site. Possible re-decal with Treviso decals? Steel Vintage Bikes - Pinarello Classic Roadbike
I have seen a similar signature before. Drawing a blank though. I feel like the under-TT braze-on is telling though. |
Google image search, Pinarello Treviso, reveals that there are other bikes with this decal.

it's just groovy "New Wave" graphics...signifying nothing, but the OP's does have a number hanger which might mean this bike was raced by somebody, or owned by a poseur :).
So what is FRX tubing, specifically, besides yet another of the dozens of SLX varients? |

These various private branded versions all seem to have appeared in the mid-1990s. Steel's popularity was waning in favour of aluminum carbon fibre and titanium and Columbus had come under additional threat from newer Italian steel tubesets from companies like Oria (mid 1980s) and Dedacciai (1992). Pinarello themselves had offered models using tubesets from these two upstarts, so I think Columbus was forced to become more acceptable to private branding and custom blending of existing tubesets in order to regain some lost business. |
