Trying out the Wahoo sensors. Not really wrenching but I did have to figure out how to put them together on the mounts.
Also put too much time in trying to salvage nearly new Michelin tubes that have a propensity to blow out for no good reason that I can discern.

No pics, but without much time to ride, I've wrenched a bit, including some things well outside my lane.
1-Sole SB700 spin bike. Very minor repairs, condition like new. Perhaps I'll not use it to hang clothes. Issue I didn't consider: Very heavy, so once it's in place, that's it.
2-1985 Raleigh Competition (Racing USA Series). Like an old friend wanted to build, moved it from 2x7 GPX to 2x10 Ultegra 6700. R shifter came in and won't pull cable under tension, so I'm working that out. Plan A: fix it. Plan B: 5700 shifters. Plan C: 7800 DT shifters and find some aero brake levers. Issue I didn't anticipate: 25's don't clear the calipers. Looks like back to 23's.
3-1984 Klein Performance (touring bike). Shifter mounting is 50% solved, just need to machine/alter the shifter backing plates to fit the mounts. FD solutions found (moving from direct-mount Superbe Pro FD to 31.8 clamped DA triple 7703). BB issue (press-fit square taper) fixed because I remembered the Shimano RSX triple was a-compact and b-used the symmetrical double BB, ordered a new one from Poland and it's dead on. Just need to get better rings. Front bag conflict with headlight solved (light stays, bag doesn't). Fender issues remain, only 5-6mm clearance with 700x28's. Waiting on suitable aero brake levers, minor panniers. At least it rolls (I think).
4-A man called and wanted me to upgrade his bike, showed up with a Cervelo P3 all Ultegra. Not much I can do, but I'll tune and clean it and make a few suggestions. He also mentioned he's mentoring some wayward youth and has gotten them riding bikes. I told him to deal me in.
5-Haven't heard from the guy whose Trek 7.7FX left my garage as a road bike. Hope it still works.
6-The Damone I "tripled up" for a cross-country ride is in Texas, from San Diego to St. Augustine FL. At least it's made it that far. One tire, 2 tubes, and last I heard they rode into a hailstorm, decided to wait a day.
That's about it.

@jimmuller - no markings on the bottom bracket, but it's not unusual. Only surprise was that the spindle is 127mm for a Sugino double. I'm used to that length on a triple. I have a set of lovely Sugino RT triple with half step gearing I could try......

rebuilt a set of Campagnolo Record Pista Pedals, they were in rough shape and needed a little TLC, unfortunately I ran out of bearings and had to reuse a few...

My Centurion Pro Tour! Finally got the time and all the bits and bobs together and took it over to the bike co-op. New stem, handlebars, aero levers, brake pads and rack.
Set up the rear cable housing 3 times to trim and re-position it and I still probably should've done it a fourth to cut it a bit shorter, but I was running out of shop time and it's nothing that will bother me unless I stare at it hard. -stares at it hard-
Thought about interrupters (went as far into thinking as buying them) but found that the cable routing bend would be too sharp with the cable hanger where it currently sits. Could get a fork mount hanger but that means more waiting for a silver one and no certainty it won't interfere with the cantis around the front rack... in the end figured they were a 'nice to have' not a 'need to have' and it's a cleaner look without them.


I spent about 4.5 hours in there and started a few hours after a late breakfast - I was ravenous when I finished! (No doubt contributing to my 'good enouuugh' sentiments after that third housing re-installation.) Stopped to catch the last of the day's light and take a few photos of my work, despite the protestations of my empty stomach. Lucky me - just a couple blocks from the shop was a food truck with gourmet falafel-type wraps (had one with eggs and eggplant and potato). I ate the whole thing right there - perfect way to end the day.

As for the things you think you "shoulda" done; that's what tomorrow is for! I practice Continuous Quality Improvement on all my bikes (up to ten now!). I wrench on them in the winter, and ride them during the rest of the year, keeping track of the things I want to improve next winter. That gives the bike budget a chance to recharge, and a better idea of what really needs to be improved. It's a fun process.

The most recent bit of wrenching that I performed was my first and quite frustrating fender installation. All is well that ends well and a few IPAs made the process just a bit less arduous. I really like the way the VO Facette fenders look to boot.

Well ol' RoS has his usual components shuffle going on. The navy blue metallic Cannondale gives up her nice 3x10 Campy to my Raleigh 531, which had not been selling as a frameset for weeks. Snagged a nearly new Nitto Noodle for it--looking very nice. Have mild plans to sell it to keep room in my abode, but not in a hurry.
My Masi gives up her Dura Ace to the Cannondale. How a "bottom end" SR400 ends up with 7400/7800/7900 (DT shifters) Dura Ace and Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX tires is a mystery to everyone and almost me...but...have you seen that paint? At the moment, it is about half built up and the polished DA pieces just sparkle.

The Masi will be a frame without a groupset for now. She needs a pretty specific look and type of groupset, and it will be Campy next. 8-speed etc. Very carefully chosen.

Pulled out this stem to clean it up. It came on a Trek 760 project of the PO. The frame looked a lot like the stem. I think he was going for the stealth look

Last week I finished this for my 11 y/o nephew. My sister said he outgrew his bmx and she was planning on getting him a new bike. Told her I'd build him one. He loves it.

@greg3rd48 - Thanks! Your fenders look very classy. That's one thing I left in the hands of a bike shop (much to their chagrin I'm sure - I imagine most people don't like fussing with metal fenders!)
@DQRider - It is truly lovely.
(Had a couple of people in the stands nearby jokingly let me know that if I ever decide I don't want it anymore...) Wise words - continuous quality improvement indeed!

It turns out the repair job I did on my wife's piano bench wasn't quite right. I'm doing it again, this time, with her help. We ordered some threaded rod and bought a brass bushing. I'm guessing the bench is about 40 years old and is very heavily made. It's the kind that goes up and down when you turn the knobs at the ends.

Looks great--I just did a very similar build with an '83 Schwinn Voyageur SP, also with the VO front rack. If you want to mount your front fender to the rack, I recommend using a recessed front brake bolt + a leather washer to act as a spacer. A 5mm bolt slotted through it just fine, and was a classy option for closing the gap:

Practically every time I go to the bike exchange someone drops of a killer donation bike . This time it was an early 70's Raleigh Professional in blue and silver minus wheels, and a beautiful custom framed sport touring bike from around 1980.
I have both stripped to the frame except for the cranks on the custom and the and bottom brackets on both.
The custom bike has a French crank and the threads are a larger diameter than the crank puller I have. Hopefully the shop has the correct size. The Raleigh bottom bracket nut on the non drive side is on really tight and again I am taking it into the shop to take it off.
Both bikes are very high end. The Raleigh is all Campy and the custom has a combination of cinelli stem and bars, Universal cx breaks and levers, Campi headset and front derailleur, Suntour vx rear derailleur. avocet seat post and drop forged french crank with a logo that looks like a bicycle wheel with a T behind it. This bike is all fillet bronzed and the dark blue metallic paint is in excellent shape with a couple small chips on the chain stays. It has 50 and 36 tooth double chainrings . and a 5 speed freewheel .
When done both bikes will be put up for sale by the bike exchange either on E bay of at our swap meet.
I have seen Raleigh professionals listed for $1200 -$2500 on Ebay. Ours has some chrome loss on the forks a nnd some scratches on the frame so is not pristine but is still ridable and should bring a good price. The custom is just as good if not better but with no way to determine the builder we will just have to see what it will bring.

The custom bike has a French crank and the threads are a larger diameter than the crank puller I have. Hopefully the shop has the correct size. The Raleigh bottom bracket nut on the non drive side is on really tight and again I am taking it into the shop to take it off.
Both bikes are very high end. The Raleigh is all Campy and the custom has a combination of cinelli stem and bars, Universal cx breaks and levers, Campi headset and front derailleur, Suntour vx rear derailleur. avocet seat post and drop forged french crank with a logo that looks like a bicycle wheel with a T behind it. This bike is all fillet bronzed and the dark blue metallic paint is in excellent shape with a couple small chips on the chain stays. It has 50 and 36 tooth double chainrings . and a 5 speed freewheel .
When done both bikes will be put up for sale by the bike exchange either on E bay of at our swap meet.
I have seen Raleigh professionals listed for $1200 -$2500 on Ebay. Ours has some chrome loss on the forks a nnd some scratches on the frame so is not pristine but is still ridable and should bring a good price. The custom is just as good if not better but with no way to determine the builder we will just have to see what it will bring.

Been doing some wrenching of my own by over-hauling my very first vintage build (albeit a resto-mod), my 1984 Raleigh Racing USA Competition. I put a lot of hard miles on this bike in the last couple of years and it was definitely showing. A complete overhaul, new cables, fresh tape and I think she's ready to get back in the pace line!
