Phillips bicycle age????

I'm trying to determine the age of a Phillips bicycle that I am currently trying to make roadworthy again. The serial number is K100981. If anyone can offer any info it would be greatly appreciated.

...if it has a 3 speed SA hub, they have a date code on them....assuming it's original to the bike.

Sorry, but we're going to need more information. The Phillips factory closed in 1960 or 1961, after which the bikes were made by Raleigh. You could try to look up your serial number as a Raleigh number and see what that tells you, but otherwise, post some photos.

The on site image uploading has been removed from the last update. Unless the OP has an image hosting service or website, we won't be seeing any pics. Too bad. Things will more dull around here without the upload feature.

...it's still available. It's just that you have to go to advanced reply and it's now limited to four or five pictures.

Ah, I see. I didn't spot it and I expect it will stump newer members. You must choose "go advanced" and select the "attachment" paper clip instead of "insert image" .

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I completely forgot about checking the hub. The date is October of '51. A little older than I expected. Once again, Thank You.

Before the update, the insert image icon would pop up a box that gave you a choice to link an image to a URL or upload. Now it only opens the enter URL box. To use the bike forums upload, you must go advanced then click the paper clip icon which isn't on the quick reply mode. So, upload is still there, but you have to find it. Having the upload feature for folks that don't have image hosting adds a lot to this sort of forum.

The V-CC library has two Phillips catalogues from around this date
they might give you a guide to the model
