So...recommended I assume...particularly for that price...can buy several to put on several bikes...not worry about moving it around!

Those cheap multi tools are pretty good for periodic & emergency road side repair. But, don't count on it holding up to repeated extended use in the shop. The threaded fasteners on each end that hold it together are very weak. I've had a couple of these come apart on me.

I have one of those, or perhaps something merely similar... and the metal was pretty poor. The allen wrenches got rounded off in no time. Of course, some are better than others, maybe you got a good one; I didn't.

This is what I'm envisioning - infrequent usage.
No...probably not intended for the rigors of shop or regular use.

Aldi grocery stores had cycling gear as a weekly random merchandise theme two months ago and when it all went on clearance three weeks later I got a 17-in-1 multi-tool from them for about $5.50 after tax and a couple of ceiling hoists for about $4 each. Likely you don't have Aldi in your area though since they only established themselves in this state as an experiment due to the importation of a thousand plus Germans who man the BMW Z3 (or whatever model it is now) factory.Great grocery chain though, and they get money from me just about every week.

I've got a terrible habit of riding off without remembering to put a saddle bag on the bike I'm using, so I've been planning to get a dedicated saddle bag for each bike. This tool seems like a great option for populating the bags for the bikes I ride less often. I've got a couple of pricey Crank Brothers multi-tools that I hardly ever actually use but carry with me whenever I don't forget. I can't see buying one of those for each bike.

I have worked to change all my nuts, bolts to either 4,5,6mm allen head or a 10mm along with a 15mm wheel nuts. I have a dedicated set of 4,5,6mm allen wrenches and 1 10mm and 1 15mm box and open wrenches just for in my tool bag. and a small phillips/flat double ended screwdriver with 3 tire irons.

I have one of those made by Stockton, costs less than $10. Looks the exact same except no slot for a nipple wrench. It stays in my toolbox. My Crank Bros M17 goes on the road with me. I don't need sockets and I do need a chain breaker.

Now if they would only make a $2.98 version of the vintage English 3 speed tool....

Yep, interesting story. Both own some Aldis, albeit the Aldis owned in America are (were) by one brother, and the Trader Joes by the other.

Thanks for the heads up, been looking for something like this to toss in all the saddle bags, as I just have a nice hex key set that gets moved around right now. Not sure if I prefer the $4 ones in the related items section, though, that have the chain break tool over the sockets.
