Made my daughter's boyfriend buys an MX Leader

Had dinner at my daughter's yesterday and her boyfriend told me someone had stolen the rear Wheel off the Scott Boulder I gave him for commuting. 7 speed and 130 mm axle so a bit difficult to get a replacement wheel. He is not into cycling but has asked me to look around for a cheap roadbike and today I found something on our "Craigslist" that I would have wanted if I were him. ( I am quite a bit taller). A rather Nice Motorola Mx Leader in what appears to be very good condition. Strange hodgepodge of parts but they will work well enough. The stem is buttugly IMO and I g\have promised to help him exchange it if he feels the same way. He will pick it up on the weekend.600 $ for this should not be that bad:

Steal. My MXL frame alone was more than that, and I don't feel like I overpaid.

Steel steal

Make sure he locks it up well! :)

you sure he didn't kick it and break it in a fit of rage and then toss it? if he's not into riding, why are you giving him bikes and making him buy more? sorry, that's really negative of me. my Dad likes to give us stuff we don't want and we are constantly making up stories about where the stuff is when he asks about it. love my Dad to bits and that's really nice of of you

If he is not that excited about it and you or he would be willing to ship it across the Atlantic, please sell it to me. A bike like that should have an enthusiast (or at least a properly enthusiastic) owner; anything less would be a shame and a bit of a waste :)

In this pricerange for used bikes over here you will get mostly Sora-equipped bikes that someone bought hoping to start cycling. This is just so much a better deal ! Finding him a roadbike was his request some weeks ago , it just got more acute due to the theft of that rear wheel. I agree that it needs an enthusiast so I hope he will become one.

There are a few bikes that will make someone who is ho-hum about riding into an enthusiast and that is one right there. Nice find!

That's a fantastic find, especially at that price. I daresay it may be too nice for commuting unless he has a really secure place to store it (sounds like he doesn't). And please teach the boy how properly to use a lock! I hope your daughter thinks he's a keeper, because that bike sure is.

My guess is that it had DA components originally. That is a very good price even with 105 and Ultrgra components. These are very nice bikes. I have one in my stable.
