Crimes Against Top Tubes!
Got this frameset free in a bulk deal and have no idea what was done to it. Looks like someone attacked the top tube with vice grips, but the frame is otherwise unscathed. Think I'm gonna try use some some frame blocks first, and if that doesnt work, have a go at replacing the top tube. Free practice at least :thumb:

Golfball dimples... to make the bike go faster?

Yea that is shot. I would practice fill in brazing as well.

Do you get ice and snow in the winter?
Perhaps hang onto the frame for the "Freeze" treatment. http://www.bikeforums.net/singlespee...nt-repair.html A tube replacement would be an interesting project. |

Just add a lot more dents and go for the hammered fender look.

Looks like an unskilled attempt at theft, maybe.

I figured as much too, just not sure how exactly how one was trying to bludgeon it free

The first thing that jumped out at me was that the dents seem to be fairly evenly spaced. Not sure how you would achieve that without either trying to be methodical or having some sort of device with evenly spaced bumps fall on it in just the right (wrong) way.
