Couple of yard sale bikes

no photos, was out walking the dog. for an asking price of $175 a Le tour W a bunch of period accessories - handlebar bag, pleischer rack, odometer down by the front hub. My size 25"er. Not on my wish list of bikes & not a price to tempt me.

A mixte Louison Bobet w Huret derailers (not allvit), has blumel fenders. Pretty bike, Marked down from $150 to $65.

Might go back tomorrow with a low ball offer for both.

If they are Huret Jubilee derailleurs, go buy it NOW. Even if it has Sveltos or whatnot that Louison Bobet is probably a very nice bike.

Wife got out of work early & decided to treat for lunch. I think I was paying attention to her but kept wandering back to the bikes. Asked her to drive by on the way home but looks like they packed up for the day. going out in a minute to do errands & will check again

Bobets a steal for $65. Maybe it's Huret Challenger but that's fine, they work great.

n+2

Out of work at 8:15, coffee & a bagel & off to see the bikes. Everything was set up & both bikes had been reduced to $50. Only haggling I did was ask if he'd toss in the alloy wheel set sitting by the bikes. Done deal. Home by 8:50.

Off for the week as of 10am tomorrow so photos in the next day or 2.

Quick summary:

wheels are Cerchio Fiamme 700's w high flange Shimano hubs

Bobet 15 speed, looks like the svelto derailer, steel wheels, cottered crank, alloy fenders (from the little time I spent looking up this bike it said these were an option)

Le Tour 12speed, Shimano derailers, Zefal pump plus stuff above. Plans are clean & lube, swap steel pedals for alloy w toe clips & if the seat proves uncomfortable, a Brooks & ride it as is. probably ride this on the fall CCRT ride

Both bikes appear to have been ridden regularly, tires hold air, no cracking...

Sounds like it worked out well for you. I hope to come a decent really cheap mixte soon, they make nice looking single speeds with a straight or small riser bar.

Amazing.....In our area if you even take a hand off the quality bike at a decent price, someone will snatch it right out from under you. And you better be there at least an hour before the start time listed. Last year, I had a guy stop at my house the day before my yard sale.

If I see 2 or more bikes at a yard sale I yell for the seller to come over because if you walk to them without the bikes in hand, forget about it, you lost them.

Overnight, no way in hell would the bikes be there the next morning.

You are a lucky guy!

I wasn't looking for another bike but this was too good to turn down.

Will flip the Bobet & if past French mixte sales are any indication of future earnings the Le Tour could end up as a freebe. Front wheel needs truing, but everything else is worked with no additional fettling. I have a set of alloy 27's I ccould sweeten the pot with. Those brake levers are weird. Oops no photo yet. Tomorrow.

Everything on the Le Tour was working spot on. I put 2 miles on it & its so stable I riding no hands as soon as I determined everything worked.

Okane fwiw their were no signs off the main roads for the yard sale nor the side roads. On top of that my neighborhood is truly a maze, unless you have a reason to drive into here people avoid this place. Not something you could stumble upon. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time.

Pictures tomorrow.
