Hmph. When I look at those pics I'm not sure what I'm looking at. The break is so clean I can't tell what it is supposed to look like.

I guess FW's break occasionally. My sweetie and I did this on the tandem:

And I had a FW come apart on my commute home one afternoon, did the last 14 miles in a truck with AAA on the side.

Jim, the main body broke around the circumference right at the outer bearing point. The lockring stayed threaded to it, thereby retaining those bearings. When the FW cogs/carrier began moving around on the stationary body the grinding alerted me to the problem. I didn't actually feel the body break, probably because I'd just passed over a couple expansion joints on the small bridge I crossed just prior to the incident.
