Miyata 512 Worth?

Hello all,I just sold my Dad's Miyata 512 for him and was wondering how well I did. It was 61cm,red/white,a 12 speed I believe, with side-pull brakes. He's not sure of the year, but he bought it in '93 or '94. The LBS said it was mint condition and all original. Guy at work gave me $200 for it. My Dad hadn't ridden it in years and just wanted to clear some garage space,so he was pretty happy with the deal. So how well did I do? Thanks in advance.

If you gave your dad the $200 you didn't do so good.

I'd say you did very well. By the way, the bicycle is a 1989 model with non-original bar tape and saddle.

Thanks T-Mar. What gives away the year? The model #,color, frame design?

First clue was the logo style, which changed in 1989. A quick check with the 1989 catalog showed a color and component match for that year. No matches in subsequent years.
