Use quoits.

I vote for a tying the purple or green hair of a small troll doll over the hub center in a tribal fashion, preferably with the doll dressed up like Daeneyrs Targaryen.

:innocent:

PS

You would have to be a very fast rider to get away with this.

If someone forced me, at gunpoint, to put a pair of these on one of my bikes,
I believe I'd have to go with braided horse hair.

Well I vote for a friendship bracelet noglider. Maybe you could get someone special to make one for you?

A few years ago, starting off on my first multi-day bike trip in a few decades, my buddy and riding partner put one of those leather Rivendell thingies on his front hub. Three blocks from his house, I slammed on the brakes and told him I wasn't listening to that damn thing for 400 miles.

He took it off.

easy just go to a shoe repair place, those natural leather laces, cut 2 inches or whatever and then just wrap it around the hub and pinch together, few drops of crazy glue. I like the thin hub spinners as you can still see the hub. worked for me for years.

What makes you think that? Some of the answers are smarmy threaddrifts, which is great fun.

Some suggestions are practical answers to a silly problem. I never meant for everyone to take this seriously. I mean, come on, we're talking about hub shiners, right?

Reading the responses, I'm having my best laugh of the day.

I wouldn't put a hub shiner on my bike. I've seen too many hubs scratched up from them. I have a 1940 AW hub that has the chrome worn all the way off, and what's the point of that?

Nonetheless... I wonder if there's a way to make one into a primitive dynamo, a few loops of wire with an LED in it, attach a few magnets to the hub, to have the LED flash every more and then.

I say get one of these sized to to fit your hub. Hub shiner plus still has bling factor. Have noglider put on, you'll be a trend setter for sure. Everyone will be amazed and impressed.
