@The Thin Man, you are so much more organized than I am that I feel like you're the beneficiary of some advanced alien technology or something. Sharing my entire workspace would bring the average organizational level of this thread down to pretty much unfettered chaos, so I'll just offer a pic of my toolbox with a few drawers opened for a peek at the contents and remark that this was a huge leap forward from the way I used to do things.

I do make custom tools once in a while....
And haul this out when rebuilding or full servicing the bikes.

Nice follow-ups everyone! I love this discussion because my curiosity for how others work.
Seeing your space is such a personal thing, especially because we all have a system and what looks good/bad to one person is the opposite to the other. Hell, even master frame builders, both dead and alive, have what some would consider shops that were in utter insane disarray. But, it works/worked for them and we know that because of what they created.
So, show that shop, or toolbox, or workstand with pride!

My home bicycle workshop consists of an inexpensive workstand
And this old two drawer Craftsman toolbox, I got tired of everything rattling around and used toolbox foam and cut out locations for most of the tools. I maintain about a dozen bikes regularly and others as needed. This makes it easy to transport to the best open space available. Tools I have slowly accummulated as needed and I need a couple of more tools that might require me to find another toolbox. Maybe someday I'll have a garage or man cave where I can setup something more permanent but I don't really feel to restricted with my setup.
Before my father passed away he flipped bikes to keep himself busy in retirement.
Here's a pic of him in the heart of his 'shop' under a large awning in his backyard.

My last apartment had a combination three tap bar/bike workshop. Confused a lot of people when they walked in 
Loving the ideas so far! Once the rest of my stuff is settled into the new home, I get to focus on getting the bike room set up, there are a lot of good ideas here!

I find this thread (especially The Thin Man's posts) mindblowing. My workshop is complete and utter chaos compared to anything here. I'd be embarrassed to show a picture. The root of the problem is that it is a combination garage (with one car parked in there), bike repair shop, bike storage area, windsurfer storage area, vintage car restoration shop, and cabinetry shop (with multiple requisite woodworking machines), all rolled in to one. Currently my Cinelli restoration project is sandwiched between a partially disassembled Austin Healey engine, my table saw (which is currently covered in bike parts), and a glue-up table being used for assembling kitchen pullout drawers. The competing cabinetry/car/bike projects ensure that the chaos can never be completely eliminated.

My garage was a mess too, but I finally got around to hanging things up. Working in a space that's not a constant source of worry about knocking things over is...nice. Cost was about $40/ea for the shelf materials, and I borrowed ideas from a few different tutorials to figure out what would work for my spot.
And the workbench is a temporary fix until I can build a proper one. Boxes of parts to sort through, too...

This was the configuration winter of 14/15. It's slightly, ever so slightly, neater now. Working on thinning the accumulation and dialing in the storage. It's a three car garage that, on a good, day, will accommodate one car. Every day there are twelve bikes from hooks on the ceiling, another on the work stand, and two or three on floor stands.
Then there is the "bike cave", where projects in waiting reside.
Under the house, sort of....hillside house with some dead space behind the dwelling.

Older pics of the basement work space. There's been more tools, parts and assorted debris added since.
The white bench and cabinet are old, re-purposed kitchen cabinets saved from after I put in a new kitchen. The bench top is the 2 halves of an old expanding dining room table. The tan bench is a re-purposed dresser with 2x6 boards screwed on top of it.

I'm lovin' this thread, I hope it goes on forever. Sometimes I don't know which I like better, tooling or riding. I love hand (not power) tools that are used for anything. There's kind of a spark that flows from the tool to my body, and from my body to the tool when I work.
I'm carefully gleaning all that I can from all of these photos. I'm finally going to be able to set up a permanent workshop in my basement this fall. Space is limited because it will include an area for stained glass work, so I'm going to need to be tightly organized.
