Nothing Porsche like about a Schwinn Speedster, more like a Cadillac.
Below is mine, acquired from the original owner in NJ.

That isn't a 1976 Speedster. In 1976 the Speedster was a standard diamond frame.

Schwinn catalogs, 1971 - 1980 (296 of 579)

If it says Speedster on the chain guard it is 1970 or older. So you scored better than you thought you did.

Schwinn catalogs, 1961 - 1970 (730 of 765)

It could indeed be a '76 model. The OPs frame is the smallest 17" model. It doesn't specifically state as such in the 1976 catalog, but the 17" Speedster frame had a "camelback" (curved top tube) design. For reference that info was specifically called out in '77:

Nice bike. Those seem to be coming back in a big way, especially Schwinns.

Are you going to build it up with better components or restore it?

:::Sigh::: stuff like this is going to encourage me into bike building. As a metalsmith with a machine shop in the back yard, that could be a serious time suck for me, ha ha!

Nice score!! I'm envious.

You can buy the whole bike in great condition for $75 here in Michigan, not that far away either. If you want me to pick it up, pay the seller and let me know.

My Speedster

Sporting 27" alloy wheels laced to a SA rear hub, plastic fenders, and white walls. Don't know how much weight I saved (pounds?) but it's much easier to go fast!
