I need a cruiser
I had a lot of fun at the Edwardsville auto show today. The cyclist have their own area and the local cruiser club asked me to bring out the road bikes.

I'll take the station wagon, because it can haul bikes.

^^^^ And you can put a surf board on the roof.

Station wagon ?
Phillistine :p That's a Nomad my brother. Akin to me calling your beloved Ironman an Accordo. (I'm a new guy here and I am joking with you. Don't be offended) |
A 1957 Nomad with a fuel injected small block, to be precise. It doesn't get much better.
|
The Rally wheels kind of kill it for me, but regardless, a Nomad is way out of my pay grade.
|
I like the bikes better than the cars.
Those 50s cruisers look nice, but I never enjoyed riding them more further than around the block. |

I agree regarding station wagons. My wife and I are keeping her 2001 VW Passat running as long as we reasonably can, because it is the perfect car in size and configuration. After 15 years, it still looks great, runs great, is a pleasure to drive, and holds bikes either inside or on my roof rack (Yakima bike carriers on VW cross bars, clamped to the OEM roof-mounted rails).
I am looking forward to our town's annual classic car signature event, Wavecrest. I always enjoy riding one of the Capos to it, although my bikes are too new by the 1910s to early 1950s standards of the car meet. https://sandiegowoodies.com/events/wavecrest |

Forgot, the 2-door was the Nomad. For some reason, I thought the Nomads were sans rear windows..... compared to that, the Magnum can pound sand.
Stolen pictures from the Google... Wagon. Square rear body, doors with upper frames. http://www.gollershotrods.com/galler...gon%20(01).JPG Nomad. Swoopy rear body and frameless door windows. http://www.2040-cars.com/_content/ca...545417/001.jpg I'll turn the thread hi-jack machine off now and we can now return to bicycle talk. |
I can dig a little OT content now and then. There's going to be a vintage car show in our area in a few weeks, and I'm contemplating driving the '67 Beetle.
Back to bikes, at least you weren't the only roadie there, Barrettscv! :thumb: |
I need a T-bucket.
|
I'd take the white Studebaker...classic European styling. Drill a few holes in the rear bumper, install a bike rack, hang the Phantom on it, and go. I don't need no stinkin' station wagon (Family has two mini vans.)

Personally, I'm waiting for "ratrods" to be "over".

To further split hairs, there were two doors wagons and nomads. The wagon was more squared off on the back of the body. Different rear window configuration. And the wagon had door window frames whereas the Nomads used doors without window frames a'la hardtop cars.
