Old Specialized Sirrus vs. ????

Hoping I can get some opinions on the old 1980s-90s era Specialized Sirrus steel frame bikes. Mostly I'd like opinions on what other models from other companies to which they might compare (E.g., are they similar to a Centurion LeMans or one of the Treks or some Miyatas or whatever?). I'm mostly interested in comparisons of the frame quality and possibly the type of ride one could expect. Thanks for any ideas here.

I had a 90 model...it had 105 on it, which was great, but that frame would vibrate like crazy descending. It was fine for what it was...but the Miyatas were much nicer (and more $$$). Sort of tanky, and not agile handling.

I'd consider them a distinct step below most comparably equipped bikes.

I have a '90 Sirrus Triple and my experience is slightly different. Perhaps the fork is the difference? The 105 Sirrus had a unicrown fork and the triple Sirrus had a regular lugged fork in '90, I think anyway. It descends great and is very agile. Same geometry as the Allez. Probably my favorite all rounder.

The '87-'90 Sirrus was the same frame as the Allez, only the components were different. I would compare it to the Centurion Ironman or upper end Trek or something. I passed up a good deal on a mint Sirrus triple last winter. I think it was an '89 or '90. Black with a lugged fork. Still slapping myself for not getting it.

That's what my '90 is, "eggplant" actually. I've always felt it was grossly underrated.
