Here's the thing. It could be a different year or an oddball build, maybe.
But mostly, the rear brake cable probably would have clamped on, rather than had a welded on cable stop. This would be trivial to remove. Did the shifter cable also clamp on to the seat tube? If so, one could remove the brakes and the rear wheel (swapping it for a coaster brake), along with all of the controls, without leaving a trace. You might check along the top tube and seat tube to try to determine if there was ever a clamp on there (marred paint, different fading, rust, etc). Do the rim patterns match? Are the rims correct for that year, as far as you can tell? The fenders also could have been replaced later. |
Looks like the 56-58 were all equipped the same way.
Also, where does it say Tiger? On the chain guard only? Could it be a different model with the Tiger chain guard on it? Also, shows here that the 59 and forward was a coaster brake model. The Schwinn Tiger But all had painted fenders. |
If the rear hub clicks when you pedal forward, you have a 3-speed running in (default) high gear.
