I always liked those frame sets and they were a great value for the price. Roger

Looks great. It's kind of odd to see one of those with lots of tasteful parts and no tasteless stickers, but I like it. :thumb:
I worked in an LBS that sold those when they first came out. I remember test riding it and thinking, this carbon stuff is going to change everything. I actually preferred it to the RB1 which we also sold, despite being a retro grouch even back then. |
Opinion? That bike is the hotness. Nicely done.

I have one sitting in the garage, and haven't done much to it beyond clean it up a bit. It's complete, in generally excellent condition, and ready to ride. Consulting the Giant catalogs of the period, it looks like they came with red bar tape and white brake hoods. I don't particularly like that combination, especially after paying through the nose for the white brake hoods that get dirty when you just look at them. I'm thinking I'd eventually like to do something nice with it, and hopefully a little more practical.

Very nice! I like the polished aluminum and the lack of decals. I'm not against decals, but the originals on these bikes are not very pretty, to put it mildly. I've been thinking about removing mine.
Did you remove the cable guides on the top tube? I kinda like that too. Here's mine: https://myalbum.com/photo/IeajTMIUbHxR/1k0.jpg |
Prettiest carbon bike EV-arr. (Not yours nonfixie, the OP's) Amazing what pulling off some stickers and polishing some alloy will do. The saddle and bar tape look pretty great, too.

The first road bike I spent a lot of time on was one of these. It belonged to the little brother of a friend of mine, and the brother never used it, so I "borrowed" it for like a year. It was equipped with 105. I had so much fun on this bike and really loved it, whipping around Boston in the early 00's. It's a durable frame in my experience - I crashed it many times, since I was a crazy punk who still rode bikes as though he were riding a skateboard.

non-fixie -
Thank you for your ind opinion, yes i did remove the cable guides on the top tube because one was damaged, your bike looks great, and their is a lot of potential for your bike to make it look even greater. What kind of wheel set is that? |

Beautiful frame and build, love the clean frame, I always thought the decals garish. I miss my 1990 which is one of only two bikes I have regretted selling. Loved to tell the kids at Starbucks that mine is 25 years older than their new model.
