Miyata 712 Score

Here is my thrift shop score from yesterday.

"I'm gonna pop some tags, got 20 dollahs in my pocket...."

Now begins the cleaning. At least the Wolber wheels are ano. Full 105 group, crappy ugly seat though tires hold air and it is rideable as is. Rear wheel is nearly true and no hops. Cant wait to rub on the lavender. Love that 80's themed pearlescent Japanese paint.

Very nice. I like the color too. It's funny,I don't go into thrift stores during summer but in winter I'll stop in.

This is a very nice score. Beats my Trek 560 with 105 score by $35.

Just took a ride down the street. Indexing hits without a miss. Post and stem are free/adjustable. I hate Biopace on my street bikes. My only complaint on the bike. Otherwise it moves out nicely.

Here is my 560 pro series. Paint is perfect. My rims are not as pretty and I have the same ugly suede seat I think. LOL

I am just glad it is not my size for once, makes it easy.

First session of spiffing included an application of Bleche-White to the bar tape and hoods. One more try should do it up nicely. Should be ordering seat and tires soon. Looking at Michelin Pro4 Service Course in 700x23 with gray sidewall. It's a process taking a backseat to work, deer hunting and riding.

Oh what fun it is to get bikes for bupkis, like an early Christmas! Nice score OldsCOOL.

I'd be saving that two tone bar tape for something really special though.

Here is my 20.00 Miyata 712 in finished form. This may be a major rider for me. Very light and lively, the geometry is what fits me. Oh yeah, let's do some fog line.

So nice! I just scored a garage queen 912 that I'm working into a 650b rider. The color keyed Laprade is an inspiration.

Had the first ride tonight. My initial impression is that this bike feels really dialed in. Quick response when giving it a good out of the saddle kick. Headtube angle is slightly less agressive than the Cannondale Criterium but not at the expense of liveliness in handling. The Lithion.2 tires are quick and roll out very smoothly. I really dig this bike. It is a good match for my preferences.
