Really nice work, CA. Have you ridden it at all - and if so how does it ride? I see those bikes every now and then on CL and always wonder what they ride like. Ive read a bit about them but not how they ride. :)

Thank you! I agree few want to deal with them but the appeal is 'being quirky' and a storyline. Prior years to the Lambert are even more interesting and fall into the unique group of only a few makers who produced both frames and components (like Zeus).

This was a $50 find, could've simply preserved it but wanted to make it something different than other Viscount's. By the year 1976 (as this project), they were pretty well sorted out and reliable.

Never cared for this era Shimano parts, so that was the first to go. I'm also bored with many vinti bikes of the era with Campy Record hence my choice of the excellent Suntour. The sealed cartridge bearings, ally fork and crank are trademark Viscount and definitely will remain on this build. I'm confident it'll be a very robust and reliable bike for many years to come.

Certainly plenty of them are out there, not rare and make them very reasonable.

Not quite finished but anxious for its maiden ride! From the old road test reports, these ally forks were flexy yet they reported it was a nice compromise with this frame.

This build with the 700c funky vintage tubular wheelset will be interesting. The Mixte rim is beautiful quality made but heavy. Then I've got the old Pirelli tubulars mated to them. Those I know for a fact are hard riders - but beastly tough. The good thing is I could pull them and go with just about anything - clinchers, tubulars and likely up to 32c wide.

Well definitely update the thread with a ride review too, once you're done. I'm thinking it's gonna ride pretty nice on those tubulars. :)

I thinks its time to finish what I started, thread dragged but its finally done.

Fresh replacement cartridge bearings in the BB and hubs. Laced the wheels with Sapim stainless DB 14/15. Kool Stop salmon inserts in the original holders really bite down on these groovy S-champ Mixte rims. The 40 year old NOS tubulars are a hoot. Garden hose Pirelli Gran Premio are better than expected.
