I've gotta change my user name

It's actually the first letter of my first name with my whole last name. But I found out today not only is it a creature in the new Ghostbusters, it's also in the Urban dictionary for a horrible slang name for women. See what happens when you search for things other than bikes.

I hear you!

My user name is just my initials, and while that's harmless enough, I could have done better. Like, just my first name, or an anagram of my whole name, or a character from fiction... many to choose from, and I feel my choice shows a lack of imagination. But... eh. It's done. I'll live with it.

For what it's worth, @sloar, your user name means only one thing to me, namely: that guy on BF, whom I've never met, good guy too.

Rick Moranis' character goes off about a Sloar in the original, too. I think.

IMO, the person who has to change their user name is Unworthy1. A misnomer if ever I saw one.

i picked this username when I was in high school (like 1990) when the first BBS stuff was starting.. and one actually needed a username. I was 16 and the "boy" part fit - and I was also pretty fast, at least in a sprint. now that I am 42 neither one is really true anymore but I keep using it just from habit.

I honestly assumed it was a Ghostbusters reference to begin with. Am I a nerd?

I remembered the scene but had to look up the exact quote -- well worth sharing:

Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

Ha! I made a comment to you about this a loooong time ago, but you didn't seem to get it so I left it alone. Glad you figured it out! It was actually from the original Ghostbusters. I'm not sure if it's in the new one or not. I am kind of a major Ghostbusters nerd. Don't change it!

I assumed it was a Ghostbusters reference as well. Made a mental note to avoid being roasted in your depths and everything.

The top UD definition for mine is "Five minutes. Five shots." I have absolutely no comment about that.

Is his name pronounced "More-anus"? If so, he should change his real name, too!

If you ask the moderators, and give them your reasoning, they can change it... well, one of them with administrative authority can. Search for what you want to change it to, and put in the request.

Mine began on a different site shortly after I got a 4-stroke dual sport motorcycle, a thumper.

Same here, not a movie goer, and can take or leave Ghostbusters, but your screen name just means that brother Marine that has some cool bikes and I would love to meet in person some day. Just to see that super clean work space in person also. Semper Fi, Sloar, Semper Fi!
