miyata 760 sr
I have the opportunity to buy a Miyata Cycles 760 SR; can anyone supply some more info on this particular model? Like position in the model line up, age, components, etc? I only have very vague pics at my disposal at this time.
Thanks in advance! |

miyata made nice frames...I'm not familiar with this particular model, but here they don't have a lot of collector value (Koga Miyata's excluded...) I don't think you should break the bank on it, although it looks to be in good shape and that bell is pretty cool...are bells required in Rotterdam?
um...of course you've looked at the next thread down? They have the miyatas nailed... |
This bike is gone from the site where it was offered, so ... . Anyway, it seems that the model-names over here in Holland are very different (most of the time) from the naming in the US. Besides that they were called Koga Miyata after a while. This bike attrracted me because of the color, it's like the teambikes of 80, 81.
Yesterday I got a strawberry coloured Miyata, from '77 (judging by the date codes of the components), fully first generation Dura Ace (black anodized), for 25 euros. So I'm not breaking the bank! The bike is in a sorry state though. I'll post some pics tomorrow, cause it has some some interesting aspects for a '77 Japanese bike. And yes, I'm trying to spark interest in (Koga) Miyata bikes from the 70s, early 80s, and the high end Japanese components of that time! |
and that bell is pretty cool...are bells required in Rotterdam?
Not only a bell, also lights (front and rear) and a 30 cm white part of your rear mudguard, are all mandatory. Those rules are not enforced of course, only the lights when you're riding in the dark (sometimes). A self-respecting racer doesn't have all that of course (certainly not a bell) and runs red lights. He/she would shout 'hey' or 'pas op', sometimes the people you're trying to give way for you, will respond: 'don't you have a bell?'. The reply to that of course: 'You heard me, didn't you?'. |
