Gold Chain
I'm getting closer to finishing up a project and was debating going with a gold chain. Just a few things however:
-I really don't want to hunt down an Everest/Sedis on the auction site and pay the price they go for and get a very old chain just because I'm chasing the look.
-Don't completely care for the all the gold chain look. Everest/Sedis more so what I like.
-Not too sure about the compatibility of how some of the new chains for 10/11 across different company lines will shift on a 5 speed.
-Been using Sram chains for a while.
If anyone can help out with any of these things and or/point me in the direction of a specific one that would be appreciated. Being pretty vain chasing the look I know, but I enjoy getting a smile looking at the bicycles I own before/during/after I ride them as well.

KMC makes some. Not sure how durable the color is, but it looks nice when new.

The thread title made me think of this:

KMC is likely the direction I'll go if I decide to do it. Never used one of their chains and can always switch back if too garish. Was just wondering if anyone had experience with them or if another option was out there.

KMC chains are good products, they are sold under some of the big names, also. Someone here can most likely tell us/you which folks put their labels on the KMC products. I have used KMC products in the past with no issues from them. I haven't use one of their gold color chains though so I cannot speak to the durability of that aspect.
I originally wanted to use the Regina Oro chain and freewheel on my bike, but the prices even a used item is getting is beyond what I am willing, or able, to spend on them. I have a Regina Extra for both the freewheel and the chain, the regular dark color, I suppose it is just plain old black, or perhaps a dark gray. I think you aren't alone in looking to meet a "LOOK" for your build, that describes what I hear here a good bot of the time.
Best of luck in your search, you might want to watch the Classified sub-forum in this forum, and possibly post an ISO in the thread for this.

If your doing 8 speeds and higher, the Sedis gold colored chains will most likely be too wide. The narrow Sedis/Sachs chains I've been using on my 7 speed drivetrains seems to only come in black, silver, nickel, an alternating black and silver links......
Their nickel colored chains actually looks very nice....

Part of me is wondering if you could buy two KMC Z610HX chains, one in gold and one in black, and assemble what you're after, combining gold outer plates with black inner plates, link by link. It's sold as a single-speed chain, but is 3/32" and I wonder how much different it actually is from old-school derailleur chain.
