Annual parts purge and sort
I don't think I did a parts purge last year. A couple years ago I donated a bunch to someone at a bike co-op. I'm currently sorting out parts bins and wheels hanging from the rafters, I don't have nearly as much as some here but I do have more than I probaly need, so I'm thinning out stuff. Some will go to a local trift shop, some to a co-op, a few things might get posted, and some will get re-purposed into something else.
Is anyone else doing a parts purge and sort this yearend?

I don't have so many parts as to need to consider a purge (though I have plenty of other junk I should get rid of). Looking at that pic I'm thinking you might want to hold on to those half-hoods, or offer them to a worthy C&V member.

Yeah, some stuff I have is hanging around waiting for an appropriate build to put them on.

Superb idea! Every year I help fix up used bicycles for local needy families, and I should donate another round of parts to the program.
If anyone is based anywhere near the Del Mar Fairgrounds (north coastal San Diego County, CA) and wants to help do some wrenching for the Community Resource Center's annual Holiday Baskets program, let me know, and I shall put you in touch with the leader of the bicycle program.

Yeah, I'm hoping to sort through the pile over the coming weeks to offload stuff I don't have a use for. A few bits have already found new homes with members here over the past month or so. More to be posted FS here at a later date. A Trek 1000 and a BSO both found their ways to me recently, so those will go. Not too excited about the prospect of shipping a full bike and the components aren't nice enough to part out, so CL or maybe a member here local to my area for the Trek. BSO is a donation once I've gone through it.

Some sections (like this one and like the touring section) have their own for sale folder, otherwise the main one down towards the bottom of the forum section list. I don't know what permissions are required to view the sales sections, but some do have requirements in order to post to them.

Anyone can view the classified section, you can post there, you just can't post ads there if you're not a contributing member.

I've got 2 care packages for some people here, and I'm trying to gather the strength to sell some parts and even a couple of bikes.

Or you'll need it.
Case in point ... I was looking for a mirror for my aero brake levered bikes, I spent a load on the Selle Italia mirror, but it didn't work with either of the style of levers I was using. I was contemplating selling it because it didn't work for anything I had, and it was expensive- I figured someone should use it... After I changed to some "modern" levers the housing fit perfectly on the hood, and the mirror fell right where it was supposed to.

Parts purge? I'm actually doing the opposite: stocking up on parts that I like and might need someday ... Which is a step up from buying bikes that have parts that I might need someday.

Bwah-ha-ha. Give buckets of parts to worthy friends with more space, knowing they'll be glad to donate back if you run across something you need. Just don't let them figure out you're using them as a parts library.

The Box of Crap should be headed my way in a few weeks, so I will purge some of my unused crap in exchange for some that may be more useful.

Occasionally do and any number of ways. Refreshing.
To me, a big part of vintage cycling is seeing what others fix, I'll learn from their 'how to's, creations, making something complete again, etc.. Also recognize piecemeal building almost always exceeds the value of a bike. I want to see their project through and enjoy the same. Its important to support our hobby and interest. The little things by doing or giving add up.
Recently dropped another tidy bundle of stuff off to a LBS. One in particular has been really good to me and although they're not catering to the C&V, have a good appreciation for it. I don't just drop it off but briefly explain what it is or has desirable collectible, tagged and placed in a baggie.
Can't get much better of an arrangement. More often now they'll let me have a use of a tool and the repair area, help myself to the used bins. Sometimes I offer lunch or a few bucks.
Also, they just acquired another shop's territory and inventory. Included pretty cool NOS stuff in that the owner said make an offer on anything I need. Doubt they'll even sell any of it but the stuff I purchased (for pittance) is only what I needed. Prefer to keep it that way.

Treebound, I'm very interested in those bars with the half hoods. Are they off a Peugeot?

I had so much to purge I started my own co-op. that was a mistake as now people add more than they take!

I'm thinking of purging nearly all of my parts. I have a few frames that need to be built but after that I think I'll just keep one, maybe two, complete C&V bikes. These parts accrue over time and I'd rather not make it a habit. Maybe I'll regret selling a few items, maybe not. Who knows.

I'm finally doing a purge. I'm listing stuff on ebay and setting it to relist automatically for a total of three listings. If an item doesn't sell, I'll donate it to a coop. A friend of mine is starting one here in NYC. I've finally come to manage to ship things out on the day they sell.
