Question about Pashley 28" wheels
 

If anyone has one of the 28" wheel Pashleys with drum brakes and Westwood rims, would you be willing to check the inside of your rims to see if nipple washers are used?

I have some rims en route that I think are the same model, which I'll be building up soon, and I'm wondering how necessary it is to use washers with them, since I feel like I saw that recommendation somewhere.

If they are aluminum, I would.

Where did you get your rims, I got some real cheap and they rusted through the chrome in 6 months.
No you don't need washers but it helps.

Rigida/Weinmann (Ryde) makes an aluminum Westwood rim, which is available in several diameters, including 622. They're not available in North America, though, so I ordered mine from the UK via eBay.


I found some elliptical nipple washers in a Google search last night, but how important is that shape? I can get round washers from J&B, though.

Use the eliptical.

Good to know they're out there. I'm relying on old stock and I'm down to a couple of hundred, which isn't many wheels.
