Jerseys From The 70s - 80s
Does anyone wear or care about the old wool team jerseys? I have a few and they're just too cool looking to toss out, but I can't imagine wearing them in San Diego when modern alternative are so much better.

I have at least one wool jersey and still wear it, but it has no logos on it.

That last part of your sentence is debatable. At least to some of us, here in the Classic & Vintage mind set.
It may seem counter intuitive in hot weather, but it may surprise you. I used to wear them all the time in the summer in 95 degree Utah. Low humidity of course. But still hot. Wool breathes well. It does get damp, but that can be OK too. Best of all, it doesn't feel clammy on the skin like modern wonder fabrics, and it doesn't stink after one wearing.
Just my opinion, of course.
Wool jerseys look so much more cool than modern ones too.
How about some pics? I'm not in the market to try to snag yours. But I think many of us here who like the old team jerseys would like to see them.

I have three wool jersies. Two of them are old and long sleeve. I wish I could still fit into them without looking like the Michelin Man.
I bought an Ibex short sleeve recently on sale. It's the only jersey I wear.

No trolling here. I used to wear them all the time and yes, they are surprisingly good in the summer as the sweat is wicked away quite well. I really like them and they aren't itchy either. The downside of them is when it is hot and you are not moving. They then get warm very quickly. I also have a wool jacket and other old stuff. That's what happens when you've been riding your whole life and don't toss anything out. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them up.

I am looking for some wool jerseys now, both long and short sleeve. I wore wool jerseys exclusively, in the late 70s and early 80s, year round. If someone has a link to a site that doesn't require financing over a 60 month period to buy one please post it here.

I love wool, unless the days get real hot. There are several companies making modern retro wool jerseys. Muted stripes or one color.
I just bought a new old school wool jersey with front pockets! And a polo collar such as the racers wore in the 40's & 50's. I feel like Fausto Coppi reincarnated.
I am up to about 5 wool jerseys. Remember, new wool ain't cheap.

Wool's the best stuff for Jerseys and shorts. Comfortable (after you get used to it), warm, wicks well, and best of all, does not stink to high heaven like acrylic does when it gets anywhere near your sweat.

I like the wool from time to time. Almost any bike jersey is dorky when off the bike, at least wool gives you some cred.
If I could afford the higher end merino wool jerseys, I'd get them. I can't, so I make do.

I have an old Cinelli jersey from the early 80's but it's synthetic. My goal is to get back down to that size again so I can wear it. I have about 15 more lbs to drop. I used to have a Holdsworth wool jersey that I bought at the shop I worked at back in 1975 but it is long gone. There's no way I would ever fit back in to that one though. I was 17 when I bought it. If I still had it and it did fit I would definitely wear it!

I got this leader's jersey by Baleno back in '83 and only wore it a few times, my only wool jersey. It's a size 4 and I soon expanded beyond its limits. Shrinking back down now but probably never to fit in this one again.

I found an eBay seller in Italy who has quite a few nice vintage jerseys, and many are very reasonably priced (some around $20.00). If you combine shipping, the shipping isn't bad either. I've purchased quite a few from him and haven't been disappointed, but you may have to decipher his Italian to check for any issues (stains and such). You have to search through his vintage jerseys here to find the old wool and wool/poly blends, but they're in there:
