Shimano fingertip control lever covers?

Dont have any pics of them, but I have a set of the old fingertip control shimano bar end shifters, friction only, probably from the early eighties, the bike they were on had early shimano 600 derailleurs, on a gaspipe Maruishi.

Anyway, they do not have the plastic slip covers on them, just the fairly thin lever body. Would love to find something that will work on them. Any ideas would be great.
Love these shifters, think that they are probably better than Suntour barcons on the rest of my bikes. Just don't want to land on them someday and get impaled.

If all else fails, I might make something out of leather to match the stitched bars, but don't want to look to poseur if you know what I mean

Multiple layers of shrink tube w/ glue. Discrete and black. Builds up to desired thickness. Not using all the full length will even give a tapered shape If you wish.

Rustines Downtube Shifter Covers

Thanks, those do look like they might work. Will have to do some checking, as the levers are really thin. I could always shim them up somehow.
Cant believe I didnt find those, but then it seems velo orange is always changing their line up.

Yeah, they added these to the shop a couple months ago. A bit pricey, but Rustines stuff looks good and lasts.

Once the lever is off The bike, you can also use Plasti-dip, the tool handle coating, again to make it thicker use multiple applications..

These have always been some of my favorite shifters - head and shoulders above SunTour Barcons IMO. For those of you who have never used them, they have an internal spring that perfectly balances the tension spring on the derailleur. Really pleasant light action.

I've still got a set (below) in use that I bought in the mid 70's. I had them for a long time on an all French bike and couldn't deal with the Shimano logos, so I removed the rubber covers and cut the levers out to disguise them.

There's a halfway decent chance I saved the covers somewhere. I'll have to look. If I can find them you're more than welcome to them.

9volt. Thanks, I have some a lot like those I snagged a while back and they are a bit of a sloppy fit. Going to check out the VO option, just need a little more research.
This forum is always great, so many helpful people.

I rode with these for a long time. It was on one of the first old steel bikes I had, and I had no idea how great they were. Eventually I put some Light action derailleurs on the bike, and they were just perfect with that combo. Its like shifting with no effort whatsoever. Never used the simplex retroshift, but if they are better then I dont want to experience it. Would make me start disliking all the suntour barcons on my other bikes.

Vintage Reg covers are available on eBay. I've gotten these onto BarCon and quick release levers. Warming them up in a cup of hot water makes them pliable enough to muscle onto a lever.
