Gios Torino Super Record Real or Fake

I'd like to know if this Gios Torino Super Record is a real or fake? What concerns me is the paint is not blue and the fork is chromed.

One of the few times I have seen a Columbus refinish transfer.
This era of Gios should be Gios Blue, but at least the owner/painter was honest.
Looks legit. Discount for the respray in a custom (pearl?) white.
The later professional frames did come in bright white with blue background graphic panels.

The bike looks "rider" to me, and that is not a bad thing, unless asking collector dollars.

Is it real? ....REAL and really nice!
Some had white and red paint, the BB shell has the correct cut out for early Gios..some also came with chrome forks (later). not sure if the fork s original because I think chrome forks were a little later and the bb is early...fork is a Gios fork with no medallions. Stays, lus and rear drops look right..it has the right patina for an older respray..decals weathered...if cheap enough and it fit buy it...don't pay high dollar crazy money. If I bought it It wold be to ride and not restore...too little to neg. return on the investment.
Gios guys will chime in I am sure...in the meantime do a google to see the changes.

Also debating between this and a Cinelli Supercorsa. The supercorsa is an 85 model and is priced 250 more.

Nice bike, repaint unfortunate but would be a great rider as mentioned. And was done right.

This looks like a repainted second generation super record. First (7?-77) and second (78) gen Super Records pretty much all had chrome forks as far as I am aware. The coin top forks appeared in the third gen (79-8?). This looks like a nicely redone early Gios Super Record. It comes with a nice set of components including what looks like a NOS Super Record crankset. The Cinelli is quite nice too and also comes with some nice components including a NOS Campy GS crankset.

Full disclosure - I am interested in the Gios also. The whole lot is interesting

As if there wasn't enough exposure already, with CV user base on evilbay. Lets just invite everyone to the party shall we. The "bay" can be a deep sea once in awhile, but these two seemed to be noticed. Hey! the SC fits me perfect ok and would be my top bike, by far, of the 1/2 dozen I have....have a heart, let me get a shot at it...Oops but well I don't really have very deep pockets, and most I have spent thus far on a bike is $600. Well see what happens I guess. ughh why can't I come across an estate sale like that.

BTW, I am still willing to accept the SC as is, even with the wrong NOS Campy Gransport crankset & pedals that are included.

I was watching these as well. The Cinelli will go for much more (my guess is it will push $900-1000) so if you're looking for a deal, best pin your hopes on the Gios; it is better equipped anyway.

Looks to be it. But If its a Super Record from before 1979, I know that's not the fork. I do remember the BB cut out looking like it and was always under the impression the the early ones even up until 1980 had the coin on the flat crown and it was only painted Gios Blue. I remember that well because I crash mine during a race as a Jr and all I remember was looking at that damn coin with a severely bent form from the ground in pain. I love to buy it. If I did, it will be repainted blue, that's for sure.

Looks like a mid 70's Gios with the wrong decals! The later style Super Record decals like on the bike in questions have been more readily available than the earlier versions.

We sold 2-3 Gios frames every year between 1975 and 1980. They came as bare frames in nice custom fit Styrofoam cases with extra goodies like panto'd seatposts, stems, large SR chainrings plus Gios hats, jerseys and water bottles.

The mid 70's frames had chrome plated forks and semi-sloping crowns with Gios logos panto'd in. They had the Gios logo stamped into the BB shells.

In the late 70's Gios changed to painted forks with flat top crowns that had embedded gold coins. My early 80's Gios has silver coins.

Note, the last pic is a staged advertising shot with De Vlaeminck carrying a new road bike not a XC model...

All this talk about this white GIOS and me lusting after that Cinelli,( that I blew my wad on.) I completely forgot about this other blue GIOS that quietly closed with one bidder, under $600 with shipping. No decals, but under dust it looks pretty clean. I think lack of iconic decals, funny brakes/handlebars, made me miss it. Oh well i'll take the Cinelli, but that blue Gios fit me also and was more in my price range.

Looks like that might have been quite the deal.
