Centurion Ironman
 

Have a 1988 Centurion Ironman Master Dave Scott and want to touch up paint on a Yellow/White fade motif. I have searched high and low for the original Yellow paint type/number, does anyone know what it is or where I could go to find it. Thank you

Hi Spooky , actually there are tons of threads about touch up paint on BF . A lot just on the IM it's self . Krylon sells touch up bottles that I have had success with also Testors sells a kit that has multiple bottles that you can mix . A little prep of the chip helps too . Pictures ?

I hate to say it ........ But, yellow is one of the toughest colors out there to get a exact match. (Black or white the easiest, obviously). Before you start painting, try a little test spot somewhere that doesn't show.

my fade is a city bike and gets lots of chips.. so my method was just to touch up with white only.. even on the yellow (in my case red) parts. it is a fade afterall...

Ive found white to be a bear to match. So many bikes with white are pearl white or eggshell white or baby powder or linen or ivory or linen or cream.
Ive found black and red to be the easiest to match.

The inside of rear dropouts are my favorite place to test paint as its a typical for paint to not be there due to adding/removing wheels. And if it doesnt match, itll be covered by the wheels.

Nice bike. I picked up a variety pack of testors enamel..the small model paint. You can mix the paints to get different shades but they usually dry darker than wet. Otherwise maybe try hobby stores or art stores. Priming it with a fine brush first would be a good idea.

I have a very close match that I used on an '87 Master that used the same yellow. I'll see if I still have the can.

I would take a close up pic, go to a hobby store and try to match it with some Testors enamel.

Thank you for all the responses. Some great suggestions, think I'll visit a hobby shop. And RT maybe you can find the can and pass along the info. Glad to know there is a group of Ironman collectors on BF; a resource for me as I work on this restoration.
